As ATB\xe2\x80\x99s next Associate Director, Diversified Industries, Capital Markets, you are someone who loves solving problems, connecting with people and who is customer obsessed and leverages their financial skills to find ways to create a meaningful impact for our clients. You will be responsible for the overall quality, credit risk, and client relationships of a specific portfolio. You are a primary contact for clients relating to senior debt and credit and will act as a key part of the Deal Team to respond, take leadership, and collaborate across multiple teams to meet client needs and ensure flawless execution. You will work closely with your Sales Director to anticipate and respond to clients needs and are key in cultivating those relationships. Associate Director Accountabilities: Portfolio Management:
  • Manage a portfolio focusing on the senior debt relationship with sophisticated clients. Working closely with the Sales Director, promote loan growth through outstanding credit awareness and management, identify opportunities to further the profitability of the portfolio and use problem solving, initiative and effective coordination of other teammates and actions to execute on financial solutions.
  • Work closely with ATB Capital Markets\xe2\x80\x99 Equity Capital Markets, Debt Capital Markets and Financial Markets teams to provide full capital solutions to ATB\xe2\x80\x99s clients through our integrated client service model.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple accounts at the same time in a fast-paced environment.
  • Create strong relationships with our clients and team members to create outstanding client execution.
  • Participate in term sheets and deal structures through credit analysis and experience to assist the Director in solving the client\xe2\x80\x99s current and future needs.
  • Prepare credit assessments through completion of applications for credit which include:
    • Analyze financial statements and information to assess risk and determine which ATB financial services meet the client\xe2\x80\x99s needs;
    • Understand credit ratings and return assessments together with recommendations regarding any impacts to costs and availability of capital;
    • Financial modeling and sensitivity analysis of projections;
    • Capital structure analysis with recommendations on alternate capital structures;
    • Industry and bench-marking assessments, including key drivers and trends;
    • Valuation analysis, security analysis with relevant recommendations.
  • Identify and either respond to or refer opportunities generated from client analysis and inquiries to Directors in the Financial Services Group or other contact within or outside of ATB (Retail, Wealth, Financial Markets, etc).
  • Ensure credit decisions/recommendations are in accordance with sound credit granting principles and are in accordance with ATB lending policy and procedures. Enhancing and maintaining a strong relationship with ATB Risk and Credit groups.
  • Develop a strong knowledge of ATB products and services available to our customers.
  • Develop an intimate knowledge of internal partner groups and processes required to align the institution to serve the needs of the client.
  • Participate in Sales Team meetings, sharing successes, best practices, and other information with the team.
Risk Management:
  • Demonstrate ownership and oversight with sound credit practices to mitigate and control risks related to the portfolio.
  • Ensure that ATB\xe2\x80\x99s risk appetite, conditions of credit and documentation are maintained. Provide oversight of the portfolio to ensure an effective balance between profitability and risk management is maintained.
  • Responsible for all documentation required on the portfolio related to regulation, compliance and governance including FINTRAC completed by supporting teams.
  • Act as a primary point of contact for internal and external audit activities.
  • Review and take leadership to ensure appropriate security documentation and all other due diligence is completed by the appropriate support teams and review for accuracy for each file.
Subject Matter Expertise:
  • Utilize industry and analytical expertise, provide recommendations and insight to client solutions and support preparation for client interactions.
  • Share the opportunity to become a subject matter expert on various industries that are niche to the Director\'s portfolio.
  • Become a subject matter expert (\xe2\x80\x9cSME\xe2\x80\x9d) in the industry that you support through industry associations and materials to provide regular insights to market impacts related to the portfolio.
  • Represent ATB by attending and supporting networking and community events that are focused on developing connections with clients and industry.
Team Collaboration:
  • Coach, and mentor support staff assigned to the portfolio, ensuring customer service expectations and credit quality are maintained.
  • Coordinate with documentation partners to ensure that the conditions of credit are maintained.
  • Oversee disbursement or implement loans to customers within authorized lending limits after obtaining credit approval and the required documentation, collateral and security to support the loan.
  • Develop and maintain internal relationships with Business Credit, Retail, etc. and leverage connections to help support the engaged client model.
  • Be a key member of the deal team motivating team members to ensure flawless execution for our clients.
Requirements
  • As this role requires significant collaboration with internal partners as well as a client facing component, it is generally not a remote working environment.
  • 5+ years of Financial Institution experience including progressively complex roles with a specific focus on corporate finance and capital markets.
  • Undergraduate degree in business commerce, economics, or a related field.
  • Chartered Financial Analyst, CPA accreditation or Graduate level education is an asset.
  • Demonstrated leadership in a financial capacity with strong working knowledge of corporate finance credit products and services.
  • Strong communication skills with demonstrated ability to build relationships with external clients and internal teammates.
  • Exceptional analytical capability and financial acumen with proven ability to develop financial analysis in Excel of mid to large organizations and complex business issues.
  • Demonstrated collaborative skills in working with senior management and specialists with proven ability to influence and coordinate a team, build strong internal relationships, and collaborate to achieve results.
  • Excellent priority management with capability to manage multiple transactions, initiatives and daily activity to best meet the needs of the client.
  • Advanced problem-solving skills and ability to take initiative to find and execute innovative solutions.
  • Ability to present complex issues at all levels in the organization and effectively influence others.
  • Proven ability to build impactful relationships across all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated pursuit of excellence inside or outside of work experience, with ability to adapt to diverse situations.
