Please apply to this position through out external career site: https://brocku.wd3.myworkdayjobs.com/brocku_careers/job/St-Catharines-Main-Campus/Associate-Director--Community-Relations_JR-1017042 A Day in the Life\xe2\x80\xa6 Reporting to the Director, Government & Community Relations, the Associate Director is responsible for leading the development, direction, and maintenance of Brock University\xe2\x80\x99s community relations strategy and key community and domestic relationships and partnerships. The incumbent provides a high level of expertise and is responsible for building and maintaining strong relationships with both external and internal stakeholders. The Associate Director will also effectively engage with the broader community on behalf of Brock to ensure that the University fulfills its commitment to being an open, welcoming and accessible resource to the community. As the Associate Director, Community Relations, you will:

  • Plan, develop, lead, coordinate and support community relations initiatives to implement the University\xe2\x80\x99s strategic plan for community engagement and special projects;
  • Create opportunities to support the development of community agencies and organizations through educational opportunities, network development and collaborative action;
  • Liaise with faculty, senior administration, staff, and student organizations to identify needs, opportunities and gaps for community engagement and partnerships;
  • Develop reports and metrics related to community partnership activities;
  • Provide community relations expertise and strategic advice to senior administration;
  • Determine scope of memorandum of understanding (MOU\xe2\x80\x99s) in partnership with internal and external participants to manage expectations of partners;
  • Lead, facilitate, and support events to bring together internal stakeholders, community partners, and the Brock community;
  • Participate in the annual strategic planning process and manage annual budget and funding operations;
  • Provide leadership to staff, including assigning workload and priorities, managing, coaching, mentoring and motivating.
What you need to Succeed\xe2\x80\xa6
  • Undergraduate degree in a related discipline;
  • 9-10 years of relevant community relations, government, advancement or communications experience;
  • 3-5 years of experience in a leadership, Manager, or Supervisor role;
  • Expert knowledge and experience in building community partnerships and relationships on behalf of an organization;
  • Comprehensive knowledge of issues and trends in community relations;
  • Understanding of the post-secondary sector, broader public sector, community leaders and the Niagara region;
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal with keen attention to detail;
  • Ability to manage, coach, mentor, persuade, and motivate individuals;
  • Strategic thinking, creativity, analytical, and decision-making skills;
  • Ability to strategize and develop tactics, planning two to five years out.
Preferred or Asset Skills\xe2\x80\xa6
  • A master\xe2\x80\x99s degree in a related field and/or discipline; and
  • Pre-existing relationships with community leaders in Niagara.
Salary and Benefit Information
  • Job Grade O, Salary Scale $83,440-$143,040*;
  • Target Hiring Range: $83,440-$97,000;
  • This position includes full comprehensive benefits including tuition waiver.
*The salary range indicated is representative of all positions evaluated at this level. Actual salary is determined by assessing related skills, experience, internal equity and market competitiveness, subject to available budget.
