What is the Opportunity?

The Associate BCM Advisory and Communications will support key elements of the BCM Program to develop and execute a robust advisory and communications practice for the BCM Program, to ensure policy and standard requirements are adhered by the enterprise.

This role will execute training, awareness and general communications for the business/First Line of Defense (1LOD) and also help support the development of the training program materials, centralized information and supporting documentation.

The role will be instrumental in ensuring program effectiveness by providing education, collaborating across teams and promoting business continuity awareness across the organization to ensure overall organizational resiliency.

What will you do?

(a) Act as an ambassador for Business Continuity Management

  • Support the BCM strategy, culture and activities that enable the team to operate as an integrated organization
  • Support a culture of integrity and behaviours that align to RBC\xe2\x80\x99s Code of Conduct and professional standards
  • Work collaboratively across teams, contributing to an engaged workforce who are effective, knowledgeable and adaptable

(b) Directly support the implementation of RBC\xe2\x80\x99s Business Continuity Management Advisory and Communications Practices
  • Design and deliver content and materials for education, training and development, awareness sessions, lunch & learns, internal presentations and industry forums enhance on-line training for business continuity management to support program consistency and alignment to program standards; present a common brand/theme
  • Provide recommendations on training materials, development of common websites and communications vehicles to assist in the overall advisory function for BCM.
  • Develop and assist in the execution of the training and education program across platforms to ensure adherence to the BCM Policy and Standard through the design and evaluation of effective training
  • Participate in various forums, working groups, and committees as well as monitor the internal and external environment to keep abreast of organizational, regulatory, strategic, and operational changes and environmental trends and emerging risks impacting business continuity management practices
  • Recommend and implement processes to maintain central artifacts; internal annual reporting calendar, program deliverables and supporting content to enable a centralized support model, via SharePoint content, BCM Connect site and relevant external facing program materials
  • Develop and manage internal information request process, coordinate cross-department and internal submission information to ensure brand consistency
  • Partner with 1st line of defense on the execution and effectiveness of BCM program and coordinating training events and materials to provide consistent approach to BCM education
  • Review and assess BCM awareness and advisory function to provide growth opportunities and support overall organizational resilience
(c) Provide BCM Advice and Communication
  • Support a strong culture of risk and integrity through partnership with first line to promote transparency in matters requiring escalation
  • Develop relationships with other areas to provide integration of BCM processes including development of Advisor onboarding materials
  • Support Director and Associate Director in independent reviews of training effectiveness and strategies to increase awareness of BCM
  • Consistently demonstrate behaviours that foster a sound and sustainable risk culture and environment across the organization including strong awareness of BCM practices and available supporting materials
  • Support in the development and execution activities with the strategic imperative of alignment to operational resilience and providing the business/1LOD with training to support continuous improvement in BCM practices
(d) Enable change and enhanced BCM Communications
  • Develop and design tools to present emerging risks and trends and that provide insights that contribute to an accurate profile of operational risk
  • Contribute and provide reporting on trends/themes, emerging risks and workshop satisfaction
  • Assess and provide advice on the communication of change initiatives across the GRM organization for business continuity and risk as required
What do you need to succeed?

Must Have:
  • Experience in developing and implementing communications or training programs with a global reach (4+ years)
  • Business Continuity Management experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • College or university degree
Nice-to-Have:
  • Experience within the banking or other regulated industry, large global matrix organization
  • Internal communications experience (development newsletters, other comms materials)
  • Experience with internal website development
  • Business Continuity Management Certifications (e.g. ABCP, CBCP)
