The Department of Surgery, Division of Urology at St. Michael\'s Hospital in conjunction with the University of Toronto, Division of Urology is accepting applications from well-qualified applicants for the post of academic Urologist. The effective date of the appointment is tentatively planned for summer of 2024.

The successful candidate will contribute to the academic mandate of the Hospital and University through scholarship, research, education, and creative professional activity. We seek a Surgeon-Investigator who will contribute in meaningful and tangible ways to the academic impact Division of Urology and Department of Surgery at Michael\'s Hospital and the University of Toronto. The candidate must be eligible for appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor or higher in the Department of Surgery, Temerty Faculty of Medicine.

The candidate will be expected to demonstrate experience and training in the surgical and medical management of urolithiasis and endourology, advanced laparoscopic and robotic-assisted urologic surgery, renal transplantation and endoscopic prostate enucleation, at a level appropriate for an academic tertiary care referral centre.

Excellence in clinical care, record of academic achievement, commitment to teaching and mentorship and life-long learning are pre-requisites. A demonstrated record of professionalism and collaboration is required and a key feature of the Department of Surgery.

We seek a Surgeon-Investigator who will contribute in meaningful and tangible ways to the academic impact Division of Urology and Department of Surgery at Michael\'s Hospital and the University of Toronto. The candidate must be eligible for appointment at the rank of Assistant/Associate/Full Professor in the Department of Surgery, Temerty Faculty of Medicine.

The successful candidate must be eligible for Royal College certification in Urology or equivalent and qualify for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario. The successful candidate will have completed fellowship training in Endourology, Laparoscopic and Robotic Surgery. Expertise in renal transplantation is a requirement.

The successful candidate will possess graduate-level training, or be enrolled in a graduate level training program that will enhance scientific enquiry in any of: public health, health services, translational or basic science research, clinical epidemiology surgical education, global surgery or quality improvement. An academic interest and expertise in artificial intelligence research would be considered an asset.

St. Michael\'s Hospital is a fully-affiliated teaching hospital with the University of Toronto, and a Level 1 Trauma centre located in downtown Toronto, providing primary, secondary and tertiary care services for Toronto, Ontario and beyond. The Department of Surgery at St. Michael\'s Hospital, comprised of some 52 members across seven divisions enjoys a proven track record in tertiary care surgical services with clinical and academic strength across all its surgical sub-specialties. The Division of Urology at St. Michael\'s Hospital and the University of Toronto is a provincial referral centre for endourology and shock wave lithotripsy, and one of the largest renal transplantation programs in the country. The Division of Urology is comprised of a cohesive group of academic surgeons who engage in clinical, administrative and translational research in collaboration with the Li Ka Shing Knowledge Institute, the Keenan Research Centre, the University of Toronto, and Ryerson University. The division is a magnet for learners and trainees of all types and at all levels.

The successful candidate will join the Division of Urology practice plan, with earnings based on fee for service billings and support from the hospital, division, and university. Estimated earnings are expected to be over $300,000, commensurate with qualifications and experience. This estimate based on fee for service billings.
