This role sits within Laurentian Bank. The role can be located in either Montreal or Toronto.



The AVP, Internal Audit Business will lead a diverse team in conducting the audit process to assess the effectiveness of internal controls within the organization.



The incumbent be responsible for overseeing audits related to the bank's business sectors, which include the activities of personal banking services, business services and financial markets as well as related risk management.


Responsibilities




Participate in the design, development and execution of internal audit plans, processes and strategy for Laurentian Bank and its subsidiaries Develop a strategic plan to assess controls and risks Maintain up-to-date knowledge of emerging issues, latest trends and evolving regulatory requirements and assess their potential impact on business sectors, the Bank and the audit strategy Ensure compliance with internal audit standards and regulatory requirements to provide assurance and support for the overall annual opinion on governance, risk management and control processes Promote a culture of risk management and process effectiveness within the Bank and its subsidiaries and act as a strategic advisor Establish a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within audit practices and banking processes Communicate with business leaders to maintain positive and transparent working relationships and represent the audit team on executive committees and key projects Ensure and manage clear and concise audit communications and reporting to management, external auditors and regulatory authorities Adopt behaviours that are consistent with LBCFG policies and practices related to governance, control and risk management, ensuring that audits are conducted in accordance with the documented procedures of the relevant business sector Act as a leader by providing guidance, advice and direction to the team to help maintain a high level of integrity, motivation and excellent mindset at all times.

Qualifications





To perform the duties described above, the incumbent must possess the following qualifications:


University degree and/or professional audit designation (e.g., CA or CPA) preferred At least 10 years' experience in auditing or other relevant experience in a related field At least 7 years' experience in team management Extensive banking and/or internal audit experience Excellent knowledge of regulatory policies and frameworks Ability to provide engaging leadership to teams and the bank as a whole Bilingualism (French and English) is required.
Professional working proficiency in French and English languages required as position involves frequent written and oral communication on complex matters with internal and external parties in both languages.
