True North Sports + Entertainment is looking for a dependable individual to join our team.


The

Assistant to the Head Chef

is responsible for supporting the

Head Chef

in managing kitchen operations. This includes overseeing food preparation to ensure quality and consistency, supervising kitchen staff and maintaining cleanliness while enforcing food safety and hygiene standards. The Assistant to the Chef also manages inventory, orders supplies and works to minimize waste and improve efficiencies. Additionally, they assume leadership in the absence of the Head Chef and will act as a liaison between the back and front of house.

What to be excited for in this role:



Ensuring compliance with strict health and safety standards Implementing service standards and training staff to improve productivity and restaurant image Overseeing the preparation, cooking, and plating of all meals in a timely manner Supporting and directing kitchen staff including performing prep work and dishwashing Providing support and leadership to all members of the BOH team Product ordering and receiving deliveries in accordance to volume of expected sales and par levels Compiling and executing cleaning duties and prep lists Writing and executing a cohesive menu Participating and contributing to meetings with the F&B team to improve operations, promotions and identify where to cut waste Preparing and executing catering contracts BOH Scheduling, mentoring, and disciplining Fostering positive relationship between FOH and BOH to develop amicable workplace culture

What we need from you:

3 years' experience as a Senior Line Cook and have an extensive background in executing line service and catering Possess valid Health and Safety certification Display strong leadership, ethics, and motivational skills to lead a team Must be personable, maintain a professional disposition and dress hygienically in accordance with policy Adhere to all policies outlined by True North Sports + Entertainment Must be available for a flexible schedule including days, evenings, and weekends. The successful candidate should expect to work 32+ hours per week. As hockey for all centre is not on a Winnipeg Transit bus route, must have a means of transportation.
