Assistant Steam Instructor

Job Description

We are looking for talented secondary or post-secondary students with an interest in STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and math) and a passion for working with children and youth to deliver programs and help inspire our children and teens at our Makerspace. At The STEAM Project, we offer experiences that give participants hands-on opportunities to learn, build, and explore. This role is fully in-person, and is located in Richmond Hill and Markham.

Job Responsibilities:



Pre-lesson preparation

: review lesson plans and set up project stations and materials

During lesson

: Instruct lessons and guide students through project and activities

After lesson

: Complete student reviews and provide feedback to help improve lessons Assist students with projects as needed Engage with students and ensure their understanding of required tasks Maintain a safe and welcoming environment at all times

Required Skills:



Experience working with children and/or teens Hands-on experience working with various power tools, hand crafts, etc. Experience with coding, robotics/electronics Valid Standard First Aid with CPR-C or willingness to obtain by the start date A clear Vulnerable Sector Check from within the past six (6) months or willingness to obtain

Considered an Asset:



Additional safety training in a workshop and/or fabrication environment Experience with 2D and 3D design softwares (i.e. Adobe Illustrator, SketchUp, AutoCAD)

This job may be funded by the Government of Canada's Student Work Placement Program (SWPP). The SWPP program requires that candidates be a Canadian citizen, Permanent Resident or a protected person defined by the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $16.00-$20.00 per hour
