Job Description

The Assistant Project Manager I (Facilities) provides critical support for facilities projects at Seaspan Vancouver Shipyards. This role is responsible for assisting with a wide range of projects while also independently managing assigned initiatives. Working closely with Project Managers and the Engineering Manager, the Assistant Project Manager helps coordinate internal and external resources to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality and safety.


Key responsibilities include developing program deliverables, monitoring and managing schedules, budgets, and quality metrics, as well as overseeing purchase orders, invoices, risk management, and safety compliance. The role requires the ability to work effectively under pressure, manage multiple priorities, and adapt to shifting deadlines while maintaining strong attention to detail.


Note: Due to business needs, this position is required to be fully on-site at 50 Pemberton Avenue, North Vancouver.



What you'll do



Assist the Facilities Engineering Manager with strategic projects by monitoring progress, tracking actions, coordinating meetings, creating project folders, and maintaining documentation on SharePoint. Support Project Managers with the planning, execution, and closeout of facilities-related projects. Independently initiate and manage small to medium-sized projects from concept through completion. Generate, review, and track deliverables and action items across a variety of facilities initiatives, such as equipment purchases, washroom renovations, blast and paint shop upgrades, construction site improvements, underground utilities expansion, and the creation of lunchrooms and locker rooms and many other projects. Produce reports that track project performance, budgets, schedules, and progress against established goals and objectives. Prepare meeting minutes, document action items, and follow up to ensure commitments are met. Coordinate with suppliers, contractors, and regulatory bodies to ensure timely approvals, compliance, and successful project execution. Work closely with cross-functional teams to resolve issues, mitigate risks, and maintain safety, quality, cost, and schedule objectives. Follow up and track purchase orders and invoices and work closely with the finance team to update project cost, forecasts Perform additional project management duties as assigned.

What you'll bring



Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Construction Management, or a related discipline (or an equivalent combination of education and experience). Minimum of 3 years of experience in project coordination or project management, preferably within facilities, construction, or a related field. Experience supporting projects in a complex industrial, manufacturing, or construction environment. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and competing deadlines under high pressure environment. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project); Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams, contractors, and stakeholders. Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities, with sound judgment and decision-making skills. Demonstrated ability to work independently with limited supervision while maintaining accountability for results. Commitment to safety and continuous improvement.

The estimated salary for this position is $84,600

$103,400. In determining final salary, Seaspan considers many factors including the successful Candidate's skills and experience as well as position location and internal equity. The final base salary offer will be at the Company's sole discretion and presented as part of a competitive total compensation package.
