Job Description

Assistant Project Coordinator is responsible for analyzing drawings, specifications, material takeoffs, and preparing a detailed scope of work for tendering, budgeting, and full cost estimates, including materials and labor. The position also provides assistance with evaluating all bids, preparing contract documents, issuing POs, setting up projects, and other administrative tasks.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

Prepare estimates of probable costs of materials, labour and equipment, and subcontracts for construction projects based on contract bids, quotations, schematic drawings and specifications Oversee the review of new products or suppliers for improved quality and cost effectiveness Advise on tendering procedures, examine and analyze tenders, recommend tender awards and conduct negotiations Establish and maintain tendering processes Set up cost monitoring and reporting systems and procedures May review design options and recommend best solution based on cost, engineering quality, or availability of materials Prepare cost and expenditure statements and forecasts at regular intervals for the duration of a project Assist Construction Manager, where applicable, in the day to day duties of a project's administration Maintain computer databases (cost comparisons, specifications, correspondence, etc Prepare and maintain a directory of suppliers, contractors and subcontractors Liaise, consult and communicate with engineers, architects, owners, contractors and subcontractors, and prepare economic feasibility studies on changes and adjustments to cost estimates Manage and co-ordinate construction projects, and prepare construction progress schedules Analysis of drawings, specifications, material takeoffs, and detailed scope of work for tendering Maintain files of working documents as back-up for estimate figures, including current (accurate) information on prices from suppliers through direct contact, sales brochures, price lists, etc
Requirements, Skills and Qualifications:

Prepare estimates of labour and material costs Estimate pre-contract costs Prepare and maintain a directory of suppliers and contractors Read and interpret blueprints, drawings and specifications Provide economic feasibility studies and preliminary estimates for proposed projects Operate CADD systems A minimum of two year's experience in construction estimating. Diploma or Post Secondary Degree in related field is an asset. Ability to multitask in a multifaceted work environment and possess exceptional organizational skills. Ability to prioritize workload and meet deadlines.

Pay: $20.00-$24.00 per hour
