Opportunity

---------------

The Department of Psychology in the Faculty of Arts and Science invites applications for an entry-level, full-time, tenure-track appointment in Quantitative Methods / Data Science for Psychology at the rank of Assistant Professor, commencing July 1, 2026, subject to final budgetary approval.

You will join a collegial department of more than 20 full-time faculty whose teaching and research span cognitive, biological, developmental, social, and applied domains. Psychology is the largest major in the Faculty of Arts and Science, with particularly strong student interest in courses related to brain and behavior.

We offer a robust undergraduate research ecosystem--including honours theses, independent studies, and research assistantships--that enables students to contribute meaningfully to faculty-led projects.

You will be expected to teach second- and third-year courses in research methods and data science, as well as develop senior-level courses within your area of expertise and contribute to teaching Introductory Psychology. The ability to teach courses related to statistics, programming for psychological research, computational psychology/neuroscience, and applied data analysis will be considered an asset.

You must have, or be close to completion of, a terminal degree in Psychology with a specialization in Quantitative Methods, Data Science, or a closely related field. Applicants with expertise in advanced statistical modeling, machine learning, large-scale data analysis, or applied behavioural data science are particularly encouraged to apply. You will demonstrate a primary commitment to undergraduate teaching and an ongoing research program.

You will submit a cover letter, curriculum vitae, teaching dossier (including recent teaching evaluations), statement of research interests, and sample of scholarly work.

Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted by the Department Chair to provide three (3) letters of reference sent directly from referees.

Only selected candidates will be required to submit official transcripts sent directly from the institutions where you completed your degrees.

Questions about this opportunity may be addressed to Eric Legge, Department Chair, at Eric.Legge@macewan.ca.
