The Assistant Manager, Accounting is an integral part of the accounting team responsible for providing accurate, timely, and relevant accounting information to internal stakeholders while driving standardization, process, and control improvements. The Assistant Manager, Accounting is also responsible for providing direction and supervision to the accounting staff and supporting the Accounting Manager on a day-to-day basis.

The Assistant Manager, Accounting will:

  • Be responsible for the month end process for the accounting department. This includes adhering to People Corporation\'s accounting polices, while ensuring accuracy and timeliness of results.
  • Ensure that there are effective controls over the review and posting of all entries into Sage, including but not limited to:
    • Variable compensation for all applicable practices
    • Deferred revenue and other scheduled entries
    • Imports of results for all non-integrated practices
  • Work closely with the Senior Accountants to ensure that all the monthly Balance Sheet reconciliations for all practices are completed in a timely manner
  • Support the Accounting Manager in ensuring that newly acquired practices are effectively integrated. This includes:
    • Ensuring all tasks on the Integrations Checklist are completed
    • Reviewing accounting processes with each practice to ensure consistency with IFRS
    • Understanding accounting requirements for new practices and ensure that they are effectively integrated into current processes
  • Lead the coordination of supporting documentation required during the annual audit process, as well as quarterly reporting
  • Work closely with the FP&A team and operational team to ensure that they have visibility and understanding regarding the financial results of their practices
  • Provide coaching, training, mentorship, and support to the team
  • Support Accounting Manager with ad hoc projects and activities within the region or business unit as required

To be successful as an Assistant Manager, Accounting with People Corporation, you will need:

  • To be an active CPA member with 4+ years of work experience with a major accounting firm or other relevant finance and accounting experience
  • 2 years of managerial experience
  • Post-Secondary education in accounting or related field
  • Experience in Sage 300, Oracle or other ERP system is required

  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
