Engineering for Kids Winnipeg is seeking up to 3 additional Assistant Instructors to work on a casual basis beginning in October 2025. This position is casual, with up to full time hours available during camp seasons (winter, spring, and summer breaks).
EFK staff members are excited about science, work well in a team, and enjoy working with kids. They must also be comfortable working independently in various settings such as schools and community centres. Successful candidates must complete a police record check including vulnerable sector search and a child abuse registry check (N/A if the applicant is less than 18 years of age)
Previous experience working with children is considered an asset. French language knowledge is considered an asset. Post-secondary students of education, science, technology, engineering, mathematics, or related fields are encouraged to apply, and high school students with an interest in the subject matter or relevant experience are also encouraged to apply.
Assistant Instructors are paid $16/ hour. They assist the lead instructor in preparing class materials and managing the classroom, and report to the Director of Engineering for Kids. Instructors may work solo with smaller classes (up to 10 kids), or may have an Assistant Instructor work with them for larger classes (up to 20 kids).
Engineering for Kids is a locally owned franchise of the larger EFK network. We specialize in providing out-of-school programming for kids aged 5-11 through evening classes, large group workshops, birthday parties, and day camps. All positions are casual during the school year, and may have anywhere from 3-20 hours per week, usually on weekday evenings, but with the occasional weekend and daytime event as well. As casual employees, shifts may be accepted or declined at your discretion. This position is excellent for someone whose availability is standard from week to week, as you would likely be facilitating classes at the same time(s) each week (for example, you would teach a class in the same location every Tuesday and Thursday from 4-6pm), or for someone with irregular availability who could fill in from time to time when a regular instructor is unavailable.
Interested candidates should submit a resume to Kylee Kolesar, Director, at winnipeg@engineeringforkids.net.
