Job Description

POSITION PURPOSE

The Assistant Housekeeping Manager is the link between the Room Attendants and the Executive Housekeeper. He/She trains and supervises the Room Attendants, Laundry Attendants, inspects rooms and other areas as assigned and ensures that high standards of cleanliness are established and maintained.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS



Daily inspection of Guest rooms, linen rooms, vending areas, corridors and common areas to ensure that high standards of cleanliness are maintained. Train and supervise Room Attendants and Laundry Attendants in order to maintain Hotel cleanliness standards. Correct reporting of room status to the Executive Housekeeper (a.m. and p.m. report). Prompt reporting and writing of all maintenance defects and any unusual appearances and safety hazards. Ensure that adequate linen is available and carts are properly stocked with linen and guest supplies in a safe and neat appearance. Prompt reporting of lost and found articles to the Executive Housekeeper. Prompt reporting of soiled and damaged linen to the Executive Housekeeper. Assist in inventory of linen and supplies. Follow security procedures with regards to keys/cards and their distribution, locking up of all linen rooms, storage rooms, etc. Participate in Housekeeping meetings and make suggestions for improvements to the Executive Housekeeper. Provide written reports of incidents and work performance. Other duties as required.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE



Experience with a Housekeeping environment is required, prior experience as a Room Attendant would be considered an asset.

SKILLS



It is necessary for the Assistant Housekeeping Manager to have a good command of the English language, both written and spoken, to properly delegate tasks to the room attendants and to communicate with guests in a courteous manner. Must have good computer skills.
