Job description Sunnyside Produce is looking for an Assistant Grower to join the company and work with a diverse workforce. You will be tasked with assisting the head grower with daily duties, also taking care of various food safety audits that we do annually. Outside of the roles outlined below there will be basic crop work to be done such as picking and pruning. About Us Sunnyside Produce is a family-owned company that grows bell, mini sweet and crescendo peppers for the North American market. We currently have 85 acres of the most high-tech greenhouses in the world. Role and Responsibilities \xc2\xb7 Priva Assist \xc2\xb7 Food safety audits \xc2\xb7 Ethical audit \xc2\xb7 CFA audit \xc2\xb7 Canada Gap audit \xc2\xb7 AWSA pesticide audit \xc2\xb7 WorkSafeBC \xc2\xb7 Operating roof washer \xc2\xb7 First Aid \xc2\xb7 Assisting Growers in Delta \xc2\xb7 Greenhouse Maintenance \xc2\xb7 Monitor and inspect plants, keeping them pest-free. \xc2\xb7 Data collection on plants \xc2\xb7 Work with Grower to ensure labour is properly planned and co-ordinated. \xc2\xb7 Communicate regularly with the Grower to provide information re: crop applications, irrigation needs, crop movement, and timing. \xc2\xb7 Apply and mix fertilizers and pesticides as needed. Requirements and Preferred Skills \xc2\xb7 Fluent in English \xc2\xb7 Interested in Plants/Growing crops. \xc2\xb7 Team player \xc2\xb7 Technical skills (Irrigation and heating) \xc2\xb7 Problem Solving \xc2\xb7 Advanced knowledge of Microsoft office (Excel and Word) \xc2\xb7 Horticulture diploma is an asset. Job Type: Full-time Salary: $30/hr Education: \xc2\xb7 Secondary School (Preferred) \xc2\xb7 Post secondary is an asset.
