We are currently recruiting for a dual position of Assistant Educator and Temporary Accommodation Support Facilitator to join our Team in Barrie at the following location(s): Willow Landing PS & Assikinack PS.

Pay Range:

$19.55 - $23.08

Temporary Accommodation Support Facilitator:

$19.55/hour



Assistant Educator $20.20 - $23.08/hour (includes General Operating Grant) plus Wage Enhancement Grant (up to $2.00/hr) and Split Shift Premium ($2.00/hr).



Candidates must be available to work a split shift in a before and after school program.

Position Type & Required Availability:

Casual Supply status (variable hours): Candidates must be available to work a minimum of 5 assigned shifts every month. Temporary Part-time (10 hrs/week): Candidates must be available to work a 2 hour shift Monday-Friday to be considered.

Position Summary:

To assist the teachers in program delivery ensuring operational requirements are met in compliance with all internal and external guidelines, policies and procedures. To ensure the delivery of a developmentally appropriate, play based program by applying specialized skills and knowledge related to early childhood education. The overarching goal is to enhance the classroom ratio and provide an inclusive environment through ongoing collaboration and communication. Supports the organization's vision, mission, and guiding values. This is a fully in-centre position.

Job Responsibilities:

Applies current legislative expectations to support a program that is consistent with Ministry of Education requirements and in accordance with Upper Canada Child Care's program statement. Assists with program charts, daily logs, reports and administration tasks as required. Participates in professional development opportunities, staff meetings and training sessions as required. Engages with the children and provides a positive learning experience. Provides a range of care including assisting with meals/snacks, toileting, diapering, dressing, etc. Fosters the engagement of and ongoing communication with parents about the program and their children. Completes program charts, daily logs, reports, and other administration tasks as required. Uses Storypark for pedagogical documentation as a guide for program development. Effectively collaborates and communicates with other team members, school personnel, and outside agencies to help support the needs of all children. Provides guidance to students and volunteers as needed. Works to support and maintain an inclusive environment. Accepts direction from other staff members in order to best support the program. May be required to interact with children on a 1:1 basis and/or supervise a group of children. Provides information to parents when requested and encourages family engagement. Observes pedagogical documentation as a guide for program development. Contributes to the design of Individual Support Plans and supports the implementation with full effort in collaboration with the Inclusion Support team. May attend meetings with internal and/or external agencies and individuals as part of the Individual Support Plan. Performs general housekeeping and classroom duties for children aged 0-12 years (e.g. meal/snack preparation, toileting, diapering, dressing, etc).

Qualifications and Requirements:

A recent Police Vulnerable Sector Check. At least 18 years of age or older due to licensing requirements. Health assessment and up-to-date record of immunization as outlined by legislation. Up-to-date certification in CPR-C and Standard First Aid (training provided upon selection if required). Basic understanding of special needs and knowledge of the developmental needs of children and demonstrated ability to apply this knowledge. Proven ability to communicate (written and verbal) effectively and establish appropriate relationships with families, caregivers and other professionals. Ability to remain calm under pressure. Uses initiative; applies sound reason in solving problems and resolves conflict in an effective, professional manner. Have the physical and emotional stamina to effectively supervise children in a variety of settings including outdoor public spaces. Ability to use computer systems and programs; including Dayforce, and Storypark. Moderate level of physical effort is regularly required; including but not limited to kneeling, pushing, pulling, bending, and carrying.
