Assistant Dining Room Manager :



Purpose:

The Assistant Dining Room Manager ensures the comfort of guests in the Dining area and that food service is delivered efficiently, effectively, and with a professional demeanor from the kitchen to the guests. The Assistant Dining Room Manager is heavily involved with Dining Room staff, providing support for supervisors, servers and bussers through the daily operations of the Dining Room, and encouraging, training and coaching staff towards excellence.

Job Summary:

Full-time, permanent position. Starting Wage: $30 per hour. Day and Evening shifts. Paid bi-weekly.

Responsibilities:

1. Support Dining Room Supervisors and Dining staff through their daily operations.

Check emails for the Dining Room. Check the Pass Off (special requests) each day and update as needed. Check the Daily Report for groups and special services. Check in with the team member who opened for the morning. During services, periodically walk the floor to ensure the progress of the service and guest satisfaction. Be aware of any allergies or special dietary restrictions, and ensure that appropriate protocol is being followed. Be aware of any anniversaries and/or birthdays, and ensure the server has followed up. Ensure that all cleaning and/or sanitizing lists are being followed appropriately. Attend and actively participate in team meetings.
2. Manage and train Dining Room personnel, including supervisors, servers, hosts, and bussers.

Ensure training procedure for new staff members is followed in a timely fashion, with appropriate documentation. Make sure expectations are clear, and when they are achieved praise staff publicly if possible. Monitor staff for praise-worthy work, and follow Ste. Anne's rewards program if applicable. Encourage professional conduct, including pride, initiative and accountability. If reprimands are necessary, always do so in private and ensure the staff member understands what steps are required to change or improve. Follow the progressive disciplinary process when necessary. Develop trust and confidence among staff by resolving problems promptly, or referring them to the appropriate professional. Mentor and support staff when they are in need of assistance.
3. Support the Dining Room Manager and Culinary Department team with various tasks.

Assist with reviews as required. Assist with arranging employee schedules to ensure that all services have appropriate coverage. Assist with Dining Room inventory, purchase order requests and fulfillment. Assist with the Menu development process.

Job Requirements:

Days, evenings, holidays or weekends as business needs require. Able to stand for long periods of time. Able to lift up to 30 lbs. Able to squat, kneel, bend, lift, twist at the waist, and reach above the shoulder.

Job Qualifications:

Minimum of 1 year's experience as a server. Minimum of 1 year's management experience. High school diploma or equivalent. Experience in a fine dining establishment is an asset.
