Wexe2x80x99re looking for an Assistant Controller to join our finance team and play a key role in both managing our accounting team and driving in-depth accounting analysis for our loans business. The ideal candidate brings technical accounting background and a sharp analytical mindset, leveraging AI tools to improve and streamline processes.This role requires someone who can balance day-to-day team oversight with hands-on work in complex accounting areas, particularly around the loan portfolio and financial reporting.
The base salary for this role is: $95,000-$125,000
Location - Vancouver or MST time zone (Remote)
What youxe2x80x99ll do:
xe2x97x8f Manage an accounting team, ensuring a timely and accurate execution of core functions
xe2x97x8f Own and enhance month-end close processes and internal controls, including identifying opportunities to integrate AI-powered tools for automation.
xe2x97x8f Perform deep-dive accounting analysis of complex transactions with a specific focus on our loan business
xe2x97x8f Support audit preparation and work with external auditors as needed.
xe2x97x8f Streamline and consolidate accounting processes across multiple businesses
xe2x97x8f Work closely with the Controller on key projects.
xe2x97x8f Assist with monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting as necessary
xe2x97x8f Support audit preparation and work with external auditors as needed
xe2x97x8f Provide support to the Treasury function
xe2x97x8f Provide regular variance analysis on key financial information
What you'll need:
xe2x97x8f CPA with minimum 5 years progressive work experience is mandatory.
xe2x97x8f Previous experience in a public company and IFRS reporting is preferred. Financial services industry experience is definitely an asset.
xe2x97x8f Financial reporting experience.
xe2x97x8f Advanced experience using MS Excel; working knowledge of Netsuite.
xe2x97x8f Successful experience with process improvement/redesign and change management..
xe2x97x8f Quick learner and adaptable to a dynamic environment.
xe2x97x8f Strong interest in AI to improve accounting and financial reporting functions
xe2x97x8f Exceptional analytical skills and the ability to understand complex issues.
xe2x97x8f Self-starter with a high level of ownership and accountability.
xe2x97x8f Strong technical ability
xe2x97x8f Able to perform detailed variance analysis.
xe2x97x8f Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
