Assistant Controller

Job Summary:
As the
Assistant Controller
, you will play a key role in managing the financial operations for our group of businesses. Working closely with and reporting to the Controller, you'll help ensure accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, and insightful business analysis that supports strategic decision-making across the organization.

Key Responsibilities
(include, but are not limited to):
Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger and accounts payable/receivable.
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with ASPE.
Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
Assist in managing audits, insurance renewals, and cash flows, liaising with external parties as required.
Develop, document, and maintain internal control procedures.
Partner with operational teams to provide financial insight and analysis.
Supervise and mentor accounting and administrative staff.
Support the Controller with strategic projects, process improvements, and systems implementation.
Qualifications:
CPA designation.
5+ years of progressive accounting experience, (experience in public practice, manufacturing, forestry, or resource industries is a plus).
Solid knowledge of ASPE, financial reporting, and cost accounting principles.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with high attention to detail.
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
