Overview
We are looking for an enthusiastic, detail-oriented, and motivated Assistant Controller to join our professional team. Responsibilities
• Prepare and maintain accurate financial records and reports in compliance with company policies
• Support accounts payable and receivable processes, including invoicing, payments, and collections
• Assist in month-end and year-end closing activities, including journal entries and reconciliations
• Monitor and analyze financial data to identify discrepancies and ensure accuracy, identifying opportunities for efficiencies
• Work closely with other departments to track expenses, ensure proper documentation, and resolve discrepancies
• Prepare tax filings, including GST/HST and payroll remittances, ensuring compliance with Canadian tax regulations
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis to support decision-making
• Support audits by providing necessary documentation and assisting in audit preparations
• Stay updated on accounting standards and best practices, ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements
Qualifications
• Completed Degree in Accounting and CPA student preferred
• Ability to work independently while managing multiple tasks and deadlines
• Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage). Knowledge of NetSuite ERP is an asset
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
• Excellent organizational and time management skills with attention to detail
• Strong analytical skills and the ability to identify and resolve discrepancies
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with team members while asking questions when unsure of best course of action
