About the Role

The Assistant Controller, Canadian Operations plays a key role in managing the accounting functions for Tunneling and HDD Canadian Business Units. This position is responsible for financial reporting, maintaining the integrity of accounting systems, ensuring compliance with tax and regulatory requirements, budgeting, and job cost analysis. The role is highly collaborative, working closely with senior finance leaders at the Nisku Head Office and management teams in Calgary, AB, and Kamloops, BC to support accurate financial performance and strategic decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

Oversee accounting functions for Tunneling and HDD Canadian Business Units. Prepare and analyze financial reports to ensure accuracy and timeliness. Maintain integrity of accounting systems and internal controls. Ensure compliance with tax laws and regulatory requirements. Lead budgeting processes and monitor job cost analysis. Review and upload payroll files prepared by payroll team and post transactions to the general ledger. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide financial insights and support operational goals.

Qualifications

CPA designation or equivalent preferred. Minimum 3 years of progressive accounting experience. Strong knowledge of Canadian tax regulations and financial reporting standards. Proficiency in Great Plains Dynamics, UKG, and Microsoft Office Suite is an asset. Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively across multiple locations and teams.

Location & Schedule

Based in Nisku or Calgary, AB Monday - Friday, 8am to 4:30pm (on-site, occasional overtime)

Pay

$75,000 to $90,000
