Role Overview
The Assistant Controller plays a critical role in supporting the financial operations of Rhodium Digital and its affiliated entities. This position is responsible for hands-on full-cycle accounting, supporting month-end and year-end close, and assisting with financial reporting, compliance, and process improvement across Canadian and U.S. operations.
This role is well suited to a CPA or CPA candidate who wants broad exposure, increasing responsibility, and the opportunity to grow into a Controller-level role over time.
Key Responsibilities
Core Accounting & Close
Perform and oversee full-cycle accounting for multiple legal entities in Canada and the United States
Support monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, including journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations
Maintain general ledger integrity and ensure accuracy and timeliness of financial data
Assist with consolidation and intercompany accounting
Financial Reporting & Compliance
Prepare internal financial statements and management reporting packages
Support external accountants with year-end working papers and audit requests
Assist with compliance for GST/HST, PST, state sales taxes, payroll taxes, and corporate filings
Support cross-border accounting considerations, including currency, tax, and regulatory differences
Operational & Systems Support
Work closely with operations and leadership to support billing, revenue recognition, and project accounting
Assist in improving accounting processes, controls, and documentation as the organization scales
Support ERP and financial system enhancements, including reporting and workflow improvements
Participate in budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
Leadership & Collaboration
Act as a key support to the Controller and finance leadership
Provide guidance to junior accounting or administrative staff as needed
Collaborate closely with consulting, operations, and leadership teams
Qualifications & Experience
CPA designation or actively enrolled in the CPA program
Minimum 5-7 years of progressive accounting experience
Strong full-cycle accounting experience is required
Professional services, consulting, or project-based accounting experience is an asset
Experience with cloud-based accounting or ERP systems is strongly preferred
