The Opportunity


The Deveraux Group of Companies is seeking an

Assistant Controller

to join our finance team in Calgary. Reporting to the Vice-President, Finance and Accounting, this role reflects the evolving needs of our growing organization. The Assistant Controller will play a key role in supporting accurate and timely financial reporting, budgeting, tax compliance, and internal controls across a portfolio of entities within the Deveraux Group of Companies. What you bring...


CPA designation and proven track record of success in financial leadership 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 3+ years in public accounting At least 2 years experience leading and mentoring high-performing teams Strong technical accounting knowledge and attention to detail Advanced Excel skills and experience working with accounting software (QuickBooks Desktop experience is an asset) Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines with a proactive and solution-oriented approach Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a collaborative mindset A desire to learn and grow, with a commitment to continuous improvement and operational excellence

Oversee all accounting operations of assigned entities within Deveraux Group of Companies, ensuring timely and accurate financial statements and management reporting within deadlines Lead financial planning processes for assigned entities, including budgeting and forecasting Monitor cash flows across entities and coordinate loan requests or repayments to support liquidity Review and approve vendor payments, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies Review payroll submissions for accuracy and alignment with employee agreements and company policies Ensure compliance with tax regulations and oversee the preparation and review of GST returns and corporate tax filings Prepare ad hoc reporting and analysis to support business needs Act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, providing insights and recommendations for strategic decision-making Lead finance initiatives focused on automation, process simplification, enhanced controls and documentation and future system conversions Mentor and manage the finance team members, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement
