We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated

Assistant Controller

to join the Finance team for our Patten Home Division. This position plays a key role in supporting the company's financial operations, real estate transactions, and overall business strategy through accurate reporting, sound financial analysis, and diligent process administration.

Duties and Responsibilities:



Supports financial operations of Patten Homes through the maintenance of up-to-date cash flow forecasts and accurate financial reporting. Assists with the preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements and reconciliations. Prepare supporting information for the annual audit and liaise with the external auditors as necessary Posting journal entries for accrued expenses and revenue transactions Manages tax filings (HST), offers ERP system support, and facilitates financial components of real estate transactions Provide financial analytical support for management decision making processes by preparing regular and ad hoc reports as needed Provide information requested by solicitors for completion of all property transactions including coordination of document execution and closings Assist with the preparation of forecasts Administers the payables process and facilitate the setup of new accounts and budgets, as well as review the bank reconciliation Administers financial components of real estate transactions, manages construction draws, and ensures proper documentation for building compliance, including permits and warranties. Prepare and process payroll accurately and on time, ensuring compliance with company policies and relevant regulations. Other duties as assigned

Requirements:



Minimum 3 years of progressive experience in an accounting or finance role, demonstrating a solid understanding of core financial principles and practices. Bachelor of Commerce (B.Comm) or equivalent degree from a recognized Canadian post-secondary institution. Exceptional attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy and quality in all deliverables. Proven ability to prioritize tasks and meet tight deadlines. Demonstrated flexibility and adaptability, with a willingness to take on responsibilities beyond the scope of defined duties as needed. Strong independent work ethic, paired with the ability to collaborate effectively within cross-functional teams. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with internal departments and external partners. High level of integrity, discretion, and accountability when handling sensitive or confidential information. A proactive attitude and a strong desire to learn, develop, and grow within the organization. Well-developed analytical thinking and creative problem-solving skills, with a focus on continuous improvement and process efficiency.
