The Role:
The Assistant Controller must bring strong interpersonal skills and mature judgement, can identify and solve problems as well as ensure that all the organization's financial processes, procedures and reporting requirements are met.
In This Role, You Will:
Assist with monthly financial adjustments and associated monthly financials and variance analysis for internal purposes
Assist with year-end reconciliations and working papers
Assist with preparation of quarterly Board Meeting materials
Assist with preparation of monthly cashflow reporting
Assist with preparing statements of adjustments and coordinating receipt of closing proceeds for land
Liaise with Cost Administration for constant improvement and budgeting
Assist with property tax. Valuing properties, paying bills, etc.
Provide ongoing financial support to the management team
Assist with the reporting on overhead costs and variances
Assist with preparation of financial models and ROIs for future projects
Assist all members of the team in times of heavy volume or special "one-off" project or at the request of management with regards to any accounting or administration work
What You Bring:
CPA - CA, CMA or CGA designation is required
A minimum of 3-4 years of related experience
Real estate experience in a home building, commercial environment, residential rental environment
Strong background utilizing ERP, Yardi or Mark Systems would be an asset
Previous supervisory experience is an asset
Tech savvy. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
Excellent communication and organizational skills
Attention to detail and consistently produces accurate, high-quality work
Ability to manage multiple shifting priorities
Encourage and mentor staff to become the best they can be
Self-starter with the attitude of rolling up your sleeves and get the job done
