Role Mandate:

The Manager, Procurement Services (6-month Contract), will join an indirect procurement team reporting to the Senior Manager. The successful candidate will be fully accountable for assigned categories spanning multiple business functions and divisions of Loblaw Companies Limited and its subsidiaries. The accountabilities will include procurement strategy development and strategic sourcing, business stakeholder engagement and cross-functional collaboration, contract negotiation and administration, vendor performance and relationship management, cost management, business process optimization, administration of the programs co-owned by the Procurement (Travel, Recruitment, Office Supplies), and more.

Accountability:

  • Manage the assigned set of categories, which includes Travel, Office Supplies, Print on Demand, Parcel Courier, Credit Cards, and other
  • Administer ordering/sourcing processes for Travel, Event, Recruitment, and Office Supplies categories and guide internal stakeholders to ensure full compliance
  • Engage and influence business stakeholders and vendors to identify opportunities, leverage market insights, improve processes, and address vendor performance
  • Develop and execute procurement strategy to improve the total cost of ownership and support corporate values, strategies, and objectives
  • Identify and leverage opportunities across various business functions of Loblaws, Shoppers Drug Mart and other subsidiaries of Loblaw Companies Limited
  • Lead strategic sourcing initiatives via spend analysis, demand consolidation, RFX, vendor negotiations, and strong cross-category / cross-functional collaboration
  • Manage vendor relationships and performance by setting and reviewing success metrics and ensuring appropriate review cadence and attendance
  • Timely negotiate and administer contracts with minimal risk exposure and in full compliance with procurement strategy, the review process, and approval policy
  • Appropriately involve support functions (Technology, Analytics, Legal, Privacy, Risk, IT Security, etc.), executive sponsors, and EAs to drive initiatives forward
  • Forecast, plan, execute, and report savings- and value improvement initiatives to ensure annual savings targets are met or exceeded
  • Support the business- and vendor community for timely issue resolution and information inquiries
  • Monitor and leverage macroeconomic, market, and CSR trends

  • MS Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint
  • SAP Ariba, FieldGlass
Qualifications and Experience:
  • BS/BComm in business, a quantitative field, or engineering
  • Category management or strategic sourcing experience or equivalent is a plus
  • Experience with indirect procurement categories is an advantage (particularly with HR, Consulting, Audits, Quality Assurance, Financial Services categories) is a plus
  • Experience with food retail industry is a plus (and/or with large matrix organizations) is a plus
