Huskie Athletics is seeking an Assistant Coach to help build our Women's volleyball program's future success. We have high standards, and it is incumbent on the successful candidate to provide exemplary leadership in all areas related to the Huskie Women's volleyball program.


Primary Purpose:

Under the direction of the Women's Volleyball Head Coach, the ideal candidate is committed to managing an outstanding high-performance program focused on student-athlete recruitment and success, community engagement and the development of Volleyball regionally, provincially and nationally.


Nature of Work:

The position reports functionally to the Head Coach of Huskie Women's Volleyball and administratively to the Chief Athletics Officer (CAO) of Huskie Athletics. This position establishes and maintains the level of professional relationships that support exceptional collaboration with the Head Coach and appropriate leadership and mentorship to the student-athletes and potential recruits to the program. This is a high-volume position that works under pressure in a fast-paced environment, multi-tasking to meet competing deadlines. It is a high-profile position and is visible in the University and the community. Potential candidates must recognize the responsibility that comes with this role and its potential impact on the credibility of Huskie Athletics, the College of Kinesiology, and the University of Saskatchewan. This position involves travel, as well as work in the evening, weekends and holidays.


Typical Duties or Accountabilities:



Recruiting: Attending assigned games, practices, and tournaments, some will require overnight travel Contacting coaches and prospective student athletes as appropriate Evaluating prospects and providing reports to the Head Coach Support in the organization of on campus recruiting visits Using current scouting and video review platforms (Volleymetrics, Balltime, etc.) Taking a lead role as directed by the Head Coach in grassroots programming Assisting in the development and execution of practice plans Assisting in carrying out individual training sessions with players as specified by Head Coach This position will be responsible for various fundraising tasks by means of sponsorship, alumni donors and youth camps/clinics Teaching appropriate classes when and if assigned Performing other duties as assigned by the Head Coach or CAO

Education:

A Bachelor's Degree from a recognized post-secondary institution is required. Consideration will be given to equivalent combination of experience and education.


Other requirement(s):

Satisfactory Criminal Records Check and Vulnerable Sector Screening will be required.


Experience:

Elite level coaching experience with a recruiting background and progress towards NCCP coaching levels is preferred. An understanding of USPORT policies and procedures. An appreciation and understanding of the student-athlete experience is a must and strong volleyball technical and tactical skills.


Skills:

The position requires effective and efficient verbal and written communications skills in all mediums; the ability to relate effectively with colleagues, coaches and staff; the ability to communicate effectively with student athletes, prospective student athletes, and alumni; proven success in a sports-oriented environment; the ability to manage and prioritize competing interests, projects and deadlines; demonstrated proficiency with contemporary computer applications, including game film editing and related activities.
