Our recreation programs and sports clubs are first class in engaging students, our campus and our community by promoting participation, fitness, healthy living and community engagement.About the RoleThis position is responsible for aiding the Head Coach, Swimming and Diving in the development and coaching of the Simon Fraser University (\xe2\x80\x9cSFU\xe2\x80\x9d) Swimming and Diving program, within the established guidelines and the policies, regulations, and procedures of SFU and the Department of Athletics and Recreation, National Collegiate Athletic Association (\xe2\x80\x9cNCAA\xe2\x80\x9d), and Great Northwest Athletic Conference (\xe2\x80\x9cGNAC\xe2\x80\x9d).Reporting to the Head Coach, Swimming and Diving, the Assistant Coach, Swimming and Diving is responsible for assisting in practice, meet planning and team management. This role helps in developing current student-athletes and identifying potential recruits as future SFU student-athletes. In addition, this role will also act as the community liaison for the Simon Fraser Swimming and Diving program.Additional responsibilities will include assisting the Head Coach, Swimming and Diving in all facets of the program to develop a quality National Collegiate Athletic Association (\xe2\x80\x9cNCAA\xe2\x80\x9d) Division II Swimming and Diving program that will be competitive in the pool, in the classroom, and in the community.QualificationsBachelor\'s degree with 5 years coaching experience with high performance athletes aged 16 years and over (i.e. Provincial, National, University/College).

  • Maintain a working knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations to pass NCAA Division II Rules Test; Maintain NCAA certification for off campus recruiting of prospective student-athletes.
  • National Lifeguard Service (NLS) certification and Cardiovascular Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPS) certification.
  • Maintain NCCP Competition Development Train to Compete \xe2\x80\x98trained\xe2\x80\x99 or higher in swimming, or equivalent.
  • Maintain Standard First Aid and CPR-AED certification.
  • Maintain a valid driver\xe2\x80\x99s license.
