:

As an integral part of the purchasing team, the Assistant Buyer works closely with both internal and external stakeholders to ensure efficient sourcing and procurement of goods and materials across various company divisions. Reporting to the Senior Category Manager, this role provides critical support in managing supplier relationships, monitoring inventory levels, analyzing pricing strategies, and ensuring the timely delivery of quality products at the best possible price.

The Assistant Buyer is a dynamic, detail-oriented professional who is essential in driving purchasing strategies, from negotiating with suppliers to assisting in the optimization of product assortments. In this position, you will exercise sound judgment, confidentiality, and professionalism while working collaboratively with cross-functional teams to support the company's purchasing objectives.

Duties & Responsibilities:



Inventory Management & Procurement:

Monitor inventory levels and place orders based on sales trends, assortment strategy, and product demand.

Cost Optimization & Analysis:

Review price proposals, financial reports, and other data to determine competitive pricing, margins, and cost-saving opportunities.

Supplier Relations & Negotiation:

Research, select, and negotiate with suppliers to secure high-quality products at competitive prices, ensuring reliable delivery and consistent product availability.

Quality Assurance & Issue Resolution:

Collaborate with suppliers to resolve any product defects or service issues and take corrective actions to maintain quality standards.

Process Improvement & Technology Utilization:

Utilize systems such as Power BI, Eagle, and Sage300 to streamline ordering, track stock levels, and ensure efficient purchasing processes.

Cross-Department Coordination:

Build strong relationships with suppliers, vendors, store teams, and warehouse staff to ensure smooth product deliveries and adherence to company standards.

Trend Analysis & Forecasting:

Monitor industry trends and consumer behavior to identify future product opportunities and assist in launching market-leading products.

Reporting & Record-Keeping:

Maintain accurate records of supplier performance and purchasing activities, ensuring data integrity for future decision-making.

Additional Support:

Assist with quarterly and year-end inventory counts, review product assortments and planograms, and support seasonal purchasing planning.

Qualifications



Post-secondary education in a related field. 1 to 2 years of relevant experience, preferably within the grocery or retail industry. Familiarity with procurement tools and software (Power BI, Eagle, Sage300) is an asset. Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills. Strong verbal and written communication skills. High level of interpersonal skills with a customer-centric attitude. Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, etc.). Effective problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to changing priorities. Able to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team. Proven time management and multitasking abilities. A strong work ethic, reliability, and a positive, solution-oriented approach to teamwork.
Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $45,000.00-$50,000.00 per year
