The role manages aspects of inspection, materials, welding, quality control, quality assurance, equipment design, procedure review, and creating or updating pressure equipment standards and specifications.In addition, the Asset Inspector provides technical support to production and maintenance on day-to-day plant issues and during plant operational and equipment problems. The Asset Inspector ensures all pressure equipment is designed, fabricated, operated, inspected, maintained, altered and repaired in a manner that provides pressure equipment integrity conforming to required regulations and standards. This team member is an advocate for Pressure Equipment Safety and strives towards ZERO LEAKS. The Asset Inspector proactively improves and executes the site pressure equipment integrity management (PEIM) system and work processes.The Asset Inspector is a credible spokesperson, capable of delivering potentially unpopular recommendations, with clarity and conviction. Critical decisions are often required with limited data and little time to evaluate alternatives. The Asset Inspector has the ability to deal with multiple issues, prioritize accordingly, and to work collaboratively with a high sense of ownership.The Asset Inspector will work primarily with other Asset Inspectors, Technologists, Engineers, Production Specialists, Maintenance Team Leads, as well as others in the Mechanical, Routine Maintenance, Technology, and ICE (Instrumentation, Controls, Electrical) Teams within their Production Asset.Accountabilities:Daily activities of reviewing shift logs and shift plans in preparation for daily team meetingsPlan, coordinate, and execute integrity inspections, assessments, recommendations, and monitoring requirements including maintaining unit KPIsResponsible for the implementation of the pressure equipment integrity management (PEIM) program for the assigned process unitMaintenance of the Inspection database system (IMS)Pressure Equipment Integrity (PEI) Focal for Maintenance Team Leaders and Asset Shift Team Leaders within their area to quickly resolve emergent threats to the business planAssessment, analysis, optimization, and documentation of Inspection resultsSupport Shell Risk Based Inspection (RBI) assessmentsResponsible for creation of piping and equipment repair plans and their adherence to API, ASME, and jurisdictional ABSA requirementsTechnical review and support of management of change (MOC) work, equipment inspection deferrals or extensions, and RBI assessmentsTechnical support of equipment re-rating, fitness for service evaluations and remaining life assessmentsReview and approval of construction and repair Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs)Responsible for the placement, monitoring, and RBI assessment of condition monitoring locations (CMLs) on equipment and piping, while optimizing to assure integrity and efficiencyTroubleshoot failures & provide recommendations for repair / replacement based on materials failure analysis, causal analysis, and root-cause analysisPerform maintenance & integrity quality assurance duties on assigned assetsProvide direction, monitor the progression, and review reporting of non-destructive examination (NDE) in their assigned units, ensuring the personnel safety of NDE contractors working in their respective areaInput to annual budget process for integrity/inspection issuesAssist and coach team members in removing and overcoming barriers they find with executing pressure equipment (PEI) integrity activitiesSupport the PEI work process through all 5 stages (degradation assessments, inspection planning, perform inspection, analyze results, corrective action)Work collaboratively with our customers and stakeholders in Production, Maintenance, Projects, Turn Around, Engineering and Technology teamsMay be required to fill a reserve worker roleRequirements:Must have legal authorization to work in Canada on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employerPreferably a technical diploma in materials engineering technology or related disciplineYou must have 2 years of professional experience at petrochemical or other industrial sitesDesired certifications include API 510, 570, 653 and ABSA In-service Pressure Equipment (Boiler) Inspector, or are being worked towardsExperience with NDE techniques, both conventional and advancedYou must have a solid working knowledge of pressure equipment design, corrosion mechanisms, codes & standards, inspection techniques, welding, metallurgy and process safetySolid working knowledge of applicable piping, pressure vessels, storage tanks and heat exchangers industry standards (ASME Pressure Vessel and Pressure Piping Codes, API, ASTM, WRC, etc.)Knowledge in the application of RBI is an assetFluent with MS Office suite of software incl.
