Position summary:



The role of the Inspector is to provide Operational support to the Asset with respect to Asset Integrity. The primary focus is on integrity management programs, inspection programs, materials and coatings selection, and corrosion control.

The successful candidate will:

Work closely with site operations, maintenance, and technical personnel, as well as Calgary support groups, regulatory contacts, and service companies. Accountable to ensure that Regulatory processes, policies, and procedures are enforced regarding integrity and inspections. Support the Asset to achieve or exceed business targets. Collaborate with all disciplines/functions to deliver effective, efficient, and safe operations of the Asset. Work full time at the Waterton Plant (29 km from Pincher Creek, 127 km from Lethbridge) with short-term travel to other field locations.

Key responsibilities:



Supervise and perform inspections on pipelines, pressure equipment, piping, and tanks. Plan/direct/budget (within approved constraints) pressure equipment and pipeline integrity inspection, mitigation, and monitoring requirements for the Waterton Plant and Field facilities. Fulfill regulatory requirements (i.e. communication, documentation) re: in-service equipment inspections and repairs. Implement pressure equipment integrity management systems and processes. Includes the preparation of critical equipment Integrity Reference Plans (IRP's), inspection data analysis and improvement recommendations. Troubleshoot failures & provide recommendations based on materials failure analysis and causal analysis. Provide Technical support to site operating and maintenance personnel re: pressure equipment and integrity maintenance requirements. Input to the annual budget process for integrity/inspection issues. Support the Quality Control Program at the site during the execution of alterations & repairs. Participate as an active member of the Cavvy Asset Integrity community. Inspection support for the planning and execution of the inspection scope for maintenance turnarounds. Understand and apply Provincial Regulatory requirements for Pressure equipment (AER & ABSA) and identify gaps and develop plans to close the gaps.

Education and work experience:



Minimum 5 to 10 years Technical / Inspection experience. Diploma in Materials, Mechanical, Metallurgical, or Welding Engineering Technology from a recognized Institute. API 510, 570, & ABSA Inservice Inspector Certification. Knowledge of corrosion inspection (e.g. NDE), mitigation techniques, deterioration mechanisms, materials & coatings selection, failure analysis. Knowledge of sour gas field facilities and gas plants and the associated processes. Knowledge of ABSA pressure equipment owner user programs. Skill in Inspection systems: Visions, pipeline inline inspections. Knowledge of pipeline inspection and mitigation methodologies (ILI, cathodic protection, leak detection ect,) Knowledge of risk / criticality-based inspection principles Skill in preparing Integrity Reference Plans. Skill in using surveillance tools (e.g. PI, Visions) Knowledge of ASME pressure piping & equipment codes and CSA industry standards Knowledge of Personal and Process Safety requirements. Skill in communication, negotiation, and time management. Skill in coaching, leading by example, facilitation, problem solving, and decision making. Awareness of HSE assurance, leadership, and adherence to requirements of lifesaving rules. Skill in applying knowledge of appropriate regulations and operating approval requirements within License to Operate. HS2 Alive training, confined space training, and WHMIS
