Assessment Director (Term)
Full-time, 1.5-year term position, working 75 hours bi-weekly
$125,438.55 - $172,217.55

What's YESAB?
The Yukon Environmental and Socio-economic Assessment Board (YESAB) is an independent body established under the Umbrella Final Agreement and YESAA legislation in 2003. YESAB conducts environmental and socio-economic assessments of projects before they are approved by the governing body.

Eligibility
  • Degree in environmental studies, natural resource management, public administration, or a related field.
  • Exceptional management skills, with the ability to supervise and lead diverse teams.
  • Experience managing complex projects through a regulatory or assessment process.
  • Strong knowledge of the Yukon Environmental and Socio-economic Assessment Act, Yukon First Nations, and First Nation Agreements.
  • Experience engaging with Indigenous governments, government representatives, stakeholders, and project proponents.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and conflict management skills.
  • Knowledge of Yukon geography, demographics, cross-cultural issues, and environmental protection issues.
  • Experience managing complex projects is required.
  • Experience supervising a team is required.
  • Experience working in a First Nation government is considered an asset.
Reporting to the Executive Director and as a member of YESAB's executive management team, the is responsible for:
  • Overseeing assessment processes across all tiers of YESAB (Designated Offices, Executive Committee, and Panel).
  • Providing guidance and direction to Assessment Branch Managers regarding human and financial resources.
  • Ensuring consistent application of YESAB's processes, procedures, and legislative requirements.
  • Advising on and developing YESAB's assessment policies and practices.
  • Ensuring defensible, informed, and clearly articulated assessment recommendations.
  • Briefing the Executive Director on emerging issues, sensitive projects, and trends.
  • Leading strategic planning, change management, and team development within the Assessment Branch.
