The Breakdown & Finish Roller Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the asphalt rollers. Operating the roller in successive passes, the Breakdown & Finish Roller Operator is responsible for ensuring proper compaction, as per job specifications.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Operate the roller and other heavy equipment in a safe and appropriate manner. Operate steel-wheeled, rubber tired, vibrator, segmented, combination, or other type of roller to compact asphalt surfaces. Operate the Roller in successive overlapping passes to apply final finish, and remove imperfections. Train new employees in the safe and efficient operation of the Roller. Operate heavy equipment and other construction duties as necessary.

REQUIREMENTS/EXPERIENCE

Valid Class 5 Driver's License Minimum 3 years experience within the road construction industry, 2 years experience operating an asphalt roller. Demonstrate a proficient understanding of how to operate a Double Drum Roller. Knowledge of base construction methods, road construction materials, heavy equipment operation and industry requirements. Must be physically able to repetitively lift and carry at least 50 kg on a regular basis. Use of Personal Protective Equipment Work is performed in an outdoor setting, which could include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt. Willing to work out of town and in remote locations, as required; willing to work overtime, as required
