Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Asphalt Estimator to join our construction team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate project estimates, analyzing bids, and collaborating with project managers and clients to ensure successful project execution. This role requires a strong understanding of construction estimating, cost control, and pricing strategies within the asphalt and broader construction industry. The Asphalt Estimator will play a key role in securing profitable projects and maintaining competitive bidding practices.

Responsibilities

Prepare detailed asphalt and construction project estimates using Bluebeam, HeavyBid, and other estimating software. Analyze project plans, specifications, and contracts to develop accurate cost projections. Collaborate with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams to negotiate bids and finalize contracts. Conduct site visits to assess project scope, conditions, and potential challenges related to construction sites. Develop and maintain comprehensive databases of pricing information for materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor quotes. Monitor project costs throughout the bidding process to ensure estimates align with budget expectations. Assist in contract negotiations and review terms related to construction projects. Support project management teams with cost control strategies during project execution. Stay current on industry trends, material prices, and regulations affecting asphalt construction projects.

Requirements

Proven experience in construction estimating with a focus on asphalt or heavy civil projects. Strong proficiency in Bluebeam, HeavyBid, and other relevant estimating or project management software. Knowledge of construction site operations, safety standards, and project management principles. Excellent negotiation skills with the ability to effectively communicate with clients, vendors, and team members. Familiarity with contracts, pricing strategies, and cost control techniques within the construction industry. Ability to read and interpret complex construction plans and specifications. Construction site experience is highly desirable to understand field conditions impacting estimates. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail to ensure accuracy in all estimates and documentation.
