REPORTING RELATIONSHIP: Creative Arts and Leisure Coordinator
QUALIFICATIONS
: Post secondary degree or diploma in a related field (Fine Arts, Visual Arts, Teaching, etc.) Experience facilitating/teaching and creating creative arts lesson plans, excellent communication and documentation skills; valid driver's licence and insurance; valid First Aid/CPR; CPI certification an asset. Experience supporting persons with disabilities and familiarity with classroom accommodations would be an asset. Must be available to work occasional evenings and weekends.
JOB SUMMARY
: In keeping with the principle of inclusion and the mission of Hutton House, the ARTworks Facilitator will support individuals with a variety of disabilities to pursue creative arts opportunities and develop skills within a positive and safe environment.
JOB CATEGORY
: Full time (30 hours/week)
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Facilitation in ARTworks
Facilitate/teach art skills such as painting, drawing, sculpting, etc.
Explain and demonstrate the use of various mediums.
Facilitate in-person classes for up to 15 participants.
Assist participants to create projects based on their personal likes, dislikes and life experiences.
Participate in the planning of the calendar, registration process and recording of attendance records and emergency information.
Develop lesson plans that foster confidence, creativity, social and communication skills, teamwork, self-awareness, problem solving, and imagination.
Adapt the lesson plan to the needs of persons with a variety of disabilities to ensure that everyone is involved and has a positive and enjoyable learning experience.
Keep records up to date and document them on a regular basis in our client database.

Working Relationships
Maintain a positive, supportive relationship with all staff, participants and volunteers and community partners.
Advocate to ensure that the dignity and rights of persons with disabilities are advanced.
Adhere to all policies of the organization including requirements of FOCUS Accreditation to ensure a safe and supportive environment for participants and staff.
Contribute as a team member to the overall mission of the organization and the goals or objectives of the team.
Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to ensure holistic care.
Respect and adhere to confidentiality in all communications with others and to adhere to the Participant Record Security Policy.
Participate in staff meetings or committee meetings and other events of the organization as required.
Participate in an annual performance review.
Participate as a positive team member engaging in professional development as required.
Report on a regular basis to the the Creative Arts and Leisure Coordinator to provide progress updates, receive direction, input and feedback.
3. Safety
Maintain a safe, clean and orderly work environment.
Adhere to all policies of the organization to ensure a safe and supportive learning environment.
Adhere to the Health and Safety policy of Hutton House in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
Maintain fire, safety and health conditions in compliance with WSIB, WHMIS, other legislation and Hutton House policies.
Correct any offences or concerns identified by the Health and Safety Committee; reporting promptly on any physical or health condition that may affect employees, participants, or volunteers.
Respond to emergencies and complete incident reports on a timely basis.
4.
Other
Advocate to ensure the dignity and rights of persons with disabilities are advanced.
Engage in professional development including Passport to Learning, First Aid, CPI, etc. as required.
Other duties as agreed upon.
