Art-Kitect is seeking a skilled artist to fill the position of art instructor, lesson planner and possibly summer camp counselor. Art-Kitect is conveniently located in front of Chester Subway Station (Bloor line). We are well known for our full-day camp programs, our TDSB programs, birthday parties and weekly art classes. Our art instructor positions are part time hour positions and our camp counselor positions are full time hour positions. Responsibilities Under the supervision of the Art-Kitect\xe2\x80\x99s programming team, our instructors propose course ideas, prepare course materials, and then lead students through high quality art classes. Teaching Artists implement skill-based learning to inspire their students to innovate, think critically, express themselves, find joy in the process of making, and to help them achieve their learning goals. Lessons must be detailed and academic. Must be able to work evenings and weekends. Must live near to the Art-Kitect Studio and within Toronto. Select and plan appropriate activities and content for all class meetings aligned with our mission and curriculum focus. Keep our classroom clean and organized for the next teacher using provided cleaning products. Engage students in the creative process and foster their talents, while deepening their knowledge and understanding of art, design, and art history. Generate class ideas and course descriptions. Create, syllabi and/or lesson plans that outline learning objectives and outline clear expectations for class and students. Communicate clearly, empathetically, and respectfully with all students. Lead classes through teaching techniques that demonstrate clarity, generosity, and creativity and encourage students to grow. Submit documentation of teaching as needed. Qualifications Minimum of college or university degree in fine and/or visual arts or is currently enrolled within a fine art program. Strong knowledge of the use of procreate app or a similar program for iPad is essential to this role. Outstanding record of academic achievement and previous experience working with children is big plus for interviewing. Must provide an art or art education portfolio that showcases your skill-set, and demonstrates your passion for art and learning. This includes digital art Possess the ability to set ambitious goals for yourself and set high expectations for your peers Strong classroom management skills and ability to present information in an engaging, interactive way. Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills. Must demonstrate a clear understanding of using Google Drive, Zoom, Email, Procreate (or other), Smart Phone apps for Communication.
