What you will do:





Reporting to the Operations Manager, Recreation, your primary responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:


Provide excellent customer service, professional and effective communication with the public as a representative of the City and facility - daily interaction with facility users, able to resolve customer problems with positive solutions and outcomes Perform recreation venue operations services such as maintaining arena ice conditions, operate ice-resurfacer, complete ice maintenance and repairs, indoor turf grooming, gymnasium set ups, Class "A" pool functions, meeting room set ups Maintain facilities to ensure clean, safe and sanitary spaces for day-to-day operation by cleaning and disinfecting change rooms, dressing rooms, washrooms, window cleaning, seasonal winter maintenance and ice removal, and other operational tasks as assigned Perform other maintenance duties in the overall facility such as painting, replacing light bulbs, and making minor repairs Respond to on-site emergencies in accordance with policies and procedures (e.g. facility emergency response, medical emergencies, vandalism, incident and security reporting)

What you will bring:




Minimum Grade 12 diploma with a minimum of 2 years of related work experience in arena and recreation facilities operations, maintenance and associated equipment use; related work experience obtained within the last 5 years is required Successful completion of ORFA Safe Ice-Resurface Operator training within first 3 months of employment Must hold or be willing to obtain valid First Aid, AED certification Knowledge and understanding of safe work practices, standards, and legislation (Occupational Health and Safety Act, WHMIS) and able to use appropriate PPE Basic computer skills to operate ActiveNet, e-mail and Microsoft Office applications Physically able to perform all activities in this area of work in a safe manner (i.e. lifting, climbing and working above ground level on ladders, scaffolds, upright lifts, walking for extended periods of time etc.) Valid MTO 'G' class driver's licence in good standing with driver's abstract acceptable to the City (maximum of 3 demerit points; maximum of 2 convictions within the previous 36 months; no driving related criminal code convictions within the previous 36 months; and no ignition interlock restrictions) is required to perform the job. What we will require:




A Police Criminal Record and Judicial Matters Check satisfactory to the City Proof of your current and valid certificate(s), licenses and/or educational qualification, if applicable Current Standard First Aid and AED certifications recognized by the Workplace Safety Insurance Board (WSIB) required or to be obtained at own expense within first month of employment

Rate of Pay




Shift premium applicable as per the Collective Agreement.


Shift Information



This position involves a rotating shift operation covering seven days per week based on program and operational requirements. Full time hours are 120 total work hours over a 21 day schedule period.
