The Area Construction Manager for the Mill Area will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating specific project works contractors and maintaining the project performance goals and have the opportunity to work on the he Hatch Bantrel Joint Venture (HBJV) to execute engineering and construction on the BHP Jansen Potash Mine Project in Saskatchewan. in this full time permanent role and be a champion ofRotation schedule, 14/7, 10 hr. days.Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate work efforts and ensure activities are sequenced in accordance with the overall project schedule for underground works
  • Accurately evaluate methods and performance in all respects of the mining scope elements of the project area for which they are accountable.
  • Manage multiple critical interfaces in major capital mining project
  • Manage overall job site health, safety and environment performance and verifies that contractors are protecting their workers at the job site
  • Management of construction in an EPCM environment, including but not limited to: contract execution, construction supervision, supervision of contractors and their subcontractors for assigned portions of the project
  • Assisting in the coordination of the design deliverables to support continuous and efficient construction
  • Job site point of contact for all contractors in assigned area of the project
  • Manage logistical interfaces and delivery of materials to the site and release to contractor
  • Planning and chairing mining area safety meetings,
  • Manage incident investigations and reporting,
  • Participates in safety programs and initiatives aligned with project and operational procedures
  • Communicating the identification, management and resolution of deficiencies and nonconformance to the appropriate management
  • Manage quality assurance, control, testing and reporting in accordance with the Construction Execution Plan
  • Responsible for construction estimating, scheduling, cost control and reporting for all work being performed by the contractor in his assigned area of the project.
  • Manage multiple interfaces for surface and underground scopes including Owner interface and operations
Qualifications
  • Technical degree or equivalent years of supervisory experience required for a leadership position
  • Minimum 15 years onsite experience on major projects; Mechanical, Electrical & Instrumentation project experience is required for the Mill Building.
  • Can demonstrate a health and safety focus in the planning and construction execution phase
  • Strong leadership skills, the ability to motivate and lead discipline-focused site teams to successfully execute the assigned scope of work
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Contract management, with negotiation and interpersonal skills
  • Broad knowledge of the EPCM model of project delivery, which includes a high level integration within Owner scope; including all activities, interfaces and interdependencies of all project disciplines (engineering, procurement, construction management, and other project related disciplines)
  • Comprehensive knowledge and ability to practically interpret and apply good construction practice and appropriate industry standards to specific mining projects.
  • Involvement in at least one significant project similar in size, scope and location as the particular assignment being considered
  • Ability to operate effectively in a team environment
  • Ability to professionally manage and resolve contractor issues to avoid further conflict escalation.
