Job Description

Taylor Architecture Group (TAG) is a Northern-based architecture and engineering firm with a focus on community design work, especially First Nation and Inuit communities, throughout the North. Our three offices are located in Yellowknife, Whitehorse, and Ottawa.
We have an immediate opening for an Architectural Technologist in our Whitehorse Office.
Projects include mid to large scale educational, hospitality, and civic facilities, as well as small scale commercial work. The successful candidate must have project management capabilities and be able to work well in a team environment.
Duties:

• Assist with production of architectural construction drawings including site plans, plans, elevations, sections, and details
• Coordinate closely with the architectural and engineering Team Leads
• Coordinate other disciplines including interior designers, engineers, contractors, and other consultants
• Maintain positive working relationships with client teams and other project collaborators
• Perform construction administration duties including site reviews
• Work will include occasional travel to remote communities in the arctic and sub-arctic; candidate should be comfortable with travel in small airplanes

Credentials and Skills:

• Graduate from a relevant degree program or diploma in Architectural Technology, Architecture, or drafting
• Minimum 5 years of experience with Architectural drafting
• Demonstrate quality work and capability
• Experience in coordinating projects
• Skilled production of construction documents & working drawings
• Excellent knowledge of national building codes and standards accepting that such knowledge might be based on familiarity with provincial building code and standards.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills; fluent in written and spoken English
• Knowledge and comfort with AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office programs are required
• Familiarity and experience with Revit and Sketchup are an asset
• Must be eligible to work in Canada

Length of Contract: This is a full time (37.5 hr/week), one-year contract position located in Whitehorse, YT.
Moving Costs: A moving expense stipend will be provided by TAG. Temporary housing is available upon arrival in Whitehorse until the candidate secures permanent housing.
