The Architectural Technologist plays an integral role in the development of drawings, details and specifications of all elements of a project. The incumbent develops, presents, and executes the building design and interprets the vision of our clients. RESPONSIBILITIES: \xc2\xb7 Design the project; prepare and present the design proposals using Computer Aided Designs (CAD) and traditional methods when required \xc2\xb7 Review and understand contract summaries of work with the ability to offer input into the creation of actionable design schedules \xc2\xb7 Collaborate with external engineering partners and other personnel to resolve design challenges \xc2\xb7 Collaborate with project teams and Project Managers to proactively support internal and external customers \xc2\xb7 Communicate and coordinate directly with clients, consultants, contractors, Project Managers, etc. \xc2\xb7 Prepare proposal specifications and presentation documents in accordance with client and/or project requirements \xc2\xb7 Monitor projects during construction for compliance with construction drawings \xc2\xb7 Produce computer generated 2D and/or 3D renderings \xc2\xb7 Research and become familiar with Canadian building codes, construction methods, and practices \xc2\xb7 Apply knowledge of codes, standards, and construction technology to solve specific design problems and implement solutions \xc2\xb7 Resolve complex technical issues \xc2\xb7 Research new products and construction methods as necessary \xc2\xb7 Other duties and projects as required The above statements describe the general nature and level of work being performed. KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS: \xc2\xb7 Designs are delivered to agreed specifications on time and within budget \xc2\xb7 Completeness and accuracy of information \xc2\xb7 Understanding and application of various codes \xc2\xb7 Organized administration and record keeping \xc2\xb7 Ability for self-directed work \xc2\xb7 Leadership of fellow staff and Estimating parties \xc2\xb7 Ability to stay current and learn new skills QUALIFICATIONS: \xc2\xb7 Completion of a two (2) year Diploma in Architectural Technology from a recognized institution required \xc2\xb7 5+ years\xe2\x80\x99 experience as an Architectural Technologist or related field \xc2\xb7 Registered (or eligible for registration) as a Certified Engineering Technologist (CET) \xc2\xb7 On-site experience in a supervisory or labour role considered an asset \xc2\xb7 Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD, AutoCAD light, and Photoshop \xc2\xb7 Working knowledge of Revit an asset \xc2\xb7 Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal skills \xc2\xb7 Ability to work in a team in a fast paced, deadline driven environment \xc2\xb7 Working knowledge of Canadian building codes, commercial and retail construction \xc2\xb7 Exceptional time management skills with the ability to prioritize and work on multiple projects simultaneously \xc2\xb7 Ability to analyze issues of various complexity and identify the appropriate course of action, using sound judgement and well-developed problem-solving skills This is a full-time position, with salary and benefits which commensurate with qualifications and experience.
