Architectural / Estimation Technologist
to join our technical and sales support team.
ROLE OVERVIEW
The Architectural / Estimation Technologist plays a critical role in supporting sales, project delivery, and customer success by producing accurate material takeoffs, estimates, and technical documentation for residential, multi-family, and non-residential construction projects.
This position combines architectural drawing interpretation, estimating, and technical coordination, and requires strong collaboration with internal teams and external stakeholders including architects, developers, general contractors, and installers.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform detailed quantity takeoffs and material estimates from architectural and construction drawings (PDFs and CAD-based documents) for:
Multi-family residential
Single-family residential
Commercial and non-residential projects
Utilize estimating software such as PlanSwift, On-Screen Takeoff, or equivalent to generate accurate material quantities and pricing
Prepare and maintain Bills of Quantities (BOQs) and Bills of Materials (BOMs)
Interpret architectural, structural, and building envelope drawings and specifications with a high degree of accuracy
Review project documentation to identify scope gaps, constructability concerns, and potential conflicts, and recommend alternative solutions when appropriate
Support sales and technical teams with:
Product selection guidance
System recommendations
Technical clarifications during the pre-construction and tender stages
Coordinate with architects, developers, general contractors, consultants, and installers to clarify scope, details, and product requirements
Assist with shop drawing review and coordination, where applicable
Respond to customer inquiries via phone and email, providing technical and estimating support
Maintain organized estimating records and contribute to continuous improvement of estimating processes
Attend job sites as required to support estimating accuracy, field verification, or technical coordination
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Architectural Technology, Architecture, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field
3-5 years of experience in estimating, or architectural / building envelope support
Strong ability to read and interpret architectural and construction drawings
Experience with PlanSwift, On-Screen Takeoff, or similar estimating software (minimum one required)
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
Experience with building envelope systems, cladding, siding, panels, or ACM products is considered a strong asset
Familiarity with fit-out or facade-related scopes is preferred
Strong attention to detail with the ability to work under tight deadlines
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
Team-oriented mindset with the ability to work cross-functionally
WHAT WE OFFER
$70,000 - $90,000 annually
