With a growing portfolio of large multi-family, commercial and industrial projects across Vancouver Island, multi-property amalgamation developments, and the occasional custom home, we are seeking an experienced Architectural Technician or Technologist to join our team to help manage and dream up the next big projects! We are a small team with lots of space to grow into!
The Role
As an Architectural Technician/Project Manager, you will play a key role in transforming design concepts into high-quality construction documents. You'll work closely with our design, development, and construction teams to ensure projects are executed to the highest standards.
Key Responsibilities
Produce and coordinate detailed construction drawings, plans, and documentation using Vectorworks and/or Sketchup. AutoCAD is acceptable to start but would prefer an eventual transition to
Vectorworks
&
Revit
to flow with the rest of the team.
Collaborate with project managers, architects, engineers, and consultants throughout all phases of design and construction.
Prepare permit and tender drawing packages in compliance with BC Building Code and municipal zoning bylaws.
Assist with site planning, design development, and feasibility studies.
Coordinate with estimators and pre-construction managers to build out pro forma's to assess development options and prepare recommendations on building/land use.
Coordinate with realtors to facilitate market research reports, prepare marketing campaigns, participate in the sales or leasing terms negotiations and deals.
Coordinate with municipal authorities for approvals, variances, and inspections.
Conduct site visits and prepare site reports during construction.
Maintain project organization and drawing control systems.
Qualifications
Certificate, diploma or degree in Architectural Technology or related field.

Proficiency in Vectorworks (2D), Sketchup. (AutoCAD, Revit, Lumion, and Adobe Creative Suite an asset)
Solid understanding of the BC Building Code Part 9 and Part 3 & 4, familiar with zoning bylaws, and typical permitting processes in British Columbia
Experience with wood-frame, steel and concrete construction.
Strong attention to detail and excellent time-management skills.
Excellent technical communication and collaboration skills.
Requires your own laptop and software license.

Economics (any field)
What We Offer
Competitive contract based hourly rate, based on experience. ($30-$40 / hr)
Flexible work environment, mostly home-based with screen sharing. We meet in office rarely, with exception of client meetings.
