Job Description
The Jewish Community Centre of Greater Vancouver is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Aquafit Instructor to teach our morning Aquafit classes. The Aquafit Instructor will plan, develop and deliver safe and enjoyable aquatic fitness classes for all ages and abilities. The successful candidate will be a passionate leader that teaches group classes and significantly contributes to each member's health and fitness goals. Ideally, the candidate would be available 1-2 times per week in the mornings on Monday, Wednesday and/or Friday.
As an Aquafit Instructor, responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Technical knowledge of the properties of water, and water exercise design. Directly supervise assigned groups of participants Organize equipment and materials before and after each class Create a friendly and positive learning environment for all new and existing participants Plan and deliver safe, effective aquatic fitness classes that create a pleasant exercising environment for customers and enable them to achieve their aquatic and fitness goals Demonstrate skills and include a variety of progressive exercises that will allow for all fitness levels to participate Provide specific feedback in a positive and constructive way Present a professional image to staff and customers Follow all JCC policies and procedures Reports any situations and/or areas of concern to supervisor. Regularly participate in supervisory check-in meetings

Independent decision making, problem solving and analytical skills Ability to communicate effectively with the public and staff, both verbally and in writing Strong interpersonal skills and comfort dealing with new people in a fitness environment Exceptional customer service skills
Required Certifications
BCRPA or CFES Aquatic Fitness Instruction certification (or equivalent) Current CPR C certification Standard First Aid certification * The successful candidate must clear a vulnerable sector criminal record check
