We are looking for an Apprentice, Light Vehicle Mechanic to join the Mobile Maintenance Team, working with the light vehicle maintenance team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for performing planned and breakdown maintenance to the mining equipment in a safe, environmentally friendly and cost-effective manner to ensure that equipment availability is maximized.

Working under the direction of a Journeyman LVM Mechanic, or Supervisor and within a challenging and exciting environment, you will:
  • Perform planned maintenance on mining equipment by scheduled due dates in a cost-effective, safe and environmentally friendly manner in order to maximize equipment availability
  • Safely troubleshoot and resolve equipment problems and conduct breakdown repairs within planned time frames without compromising the integrity of the equipment
  • Fill out work orders and reports on maintenance, repairs and diagnoses prior to the end of each shift, providing sufficient detail for others to understand the work that has been completed on the equipment
  • Keep work areas clean and free of safety hazards on a continuous basis and conduct safety audits as per company policy, providing written reports to the Supervisor as requested
  • Work and Promote Safety within the assigned area by:
  • Meeting your personal safety plan commitments
  • Immediately reporting all incidents and accidents to your immediate supervisor
  • Working to achieve or exceed the site and departmental safety goals
  • Use a safe working attitude when performing tasks
  • Complete a JHA prior to performing tasks
  • Adhere to all safety standards and policies
  • Foster a positive attitude towards change
  • Participate in the daily prestart meetings
  • Complete other related work as assigned by the Supervisor, Superintendent, or Senior Managers.
What you\'ll bring

To succeed in this role, you will have:
  • Minimum grade 12 education
  • Must be able to pass the Apprenticeship entrance exam
  • Current St. John\'s Ambulance Standard First Aid Certificate with CPR is an asset
  • Training on the Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) is an asset
