Apprentice - Heavy Vehicle Mechanic (Full Time) - Scarborough, ON

Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, working out of our Scarborough, ON facility, the incumbent is responsible for the general maintenance and repair of systems and components of various heavy vehicles in the central fleet.

Main Responsibilities Include:

• Performing heavy vehicle maintenance to ensure safe operation of heavy trucks as well as CO2 and cryogenic units
• Completing diagnostic and repairs of broken down heavy vehicles that the maintenance supervisor assigned to the mechanics
• Ordering spare parts from suppliers
• Completing in a timely matter the required electronic documents and paperwork for internal and external requirements for heavy vehicle maintenance
• Performing vehicle repairs, which include work on motors, mechanical assemblies and electrical or electronic components. The mechanic must be able to complete repairs on pneumatic and hydraulic systems and also piping systems. Repairs are also needed to ensure the safety and comfort of the driver. The mechanic may assign certain repairs to other technicians and / or suppliers according to their specialty

Qualifications

You will bring with you to this position:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Minimum Class G driver\xe2\x80\x99s license
• Air brake (Z) endorsement is a big asset
• 2nd or 3rd year apprentice heavy vehicle mechanic
• Must be comfortable working with a computer
• Must have a safe attitude and value customer service
• Willingness to comply with policies, procedures and regulations
• Insist on safety and customer satisfaction
• Must be available to participate in on-call rotation
