Mission

Pittman Asphalt, part of the Terus Construction Group., is seeking an Apprentice Heavy Duty Mechanic for its operations in Prince George, BC. Reporting to the Shop Foreman, you will provide support to complete daily repairs and preventive maintenance and perform related assigned tasks and duties under limited supervision.

Job Summary: The Apprentice Heavy Duty Mechanic will be required to perform repairs and maintenance on all types of Heavy equipment both on and off road, as well as the repair and maintenance of crushing spreads and asphalt plants.

Duties/ Tasks

• Perform maintenance and repair activities on various pieces of heavy equipment
• Diagnose, service and repair various systems found on pieces of heavy equipment, such as mechanical and computer electronic controls, air brake systems, transmissions, high voltage generators, propane powered equipment and pneumatic systems.
• Perform routine maintenance checks and adjustments to fluid levels, hoses, belts, brakes, tires and clutches.
• Diagnose problems, disassemble units, repair or replace parts and re assemble units
• Assist in completing all maintenance inspections.
• Ensure all repairs completed are documented.
• Record any equipment deficiencies.
• Organization and scheduling of all repairs & inspections
• Other duties as required

Qualifications/Experience

• Registered Heavy Duty Apprenticeship Certificate
• 1-2 years experience as a Heavy Duty Mechanic
• Strong technical knowledge and mechanical aptitude to perform service on various equipment ranging from heavy duty equipment to small engine and parts.
• Ability to work independently with minimal direction.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to multitask is a must.
• Team player
• Proficient in computers / tablets for daily maintenance records, timecards, reporting.

Requirements

• Must be able to work respecting safety policies and procedures. Perform duties safely. around mobile equipment and have a high sense of safety awareness while performing his/ her work.
• Use of Personal Protection Equipment is required.
• Must comply with the company\'s drug and alcohol policy, including testing requirements.
• Must comply with all company policies.
• Valid drivers license
