The AppOps Senior Specialist is a hands-on developer responsible for maintaining and supporting Interac's highly distributed, high-performance payment system and provide Operations support. You will diagnose and resolve infrastructure and application issues to ensure optimal performance and availability of all our IT applications and provide root cause analysis with recommendations for improvements. As part of this role, you will work with senior team members to gather monitoring requirements from stakeholders and deliver solutions utilizing the enterprise monitoring toolset, paving the way to the SRE-based next-generation Interac platform.

You'll be responsible for:



Understanding large-scale Java applications, database architectures, application monitoring and fault management. Application Operations Activities, including Synthetic/proactive monitoring, responding to alerts and automation. Troubleshooting applications by leveraging APM tools like AppDynamics/Dynatrace. Application support and maintenance of Java/JEE applications. Having an Operations and SRE mindset toward ensuring application availability. Identifying the application monitoring needs or performance issues and instrumenting them appropriately in AppDynamics and Splunk. Able to review/create Network rules and Setup of Network Appliances to troubleshoot. Designing and instrumenting AppDynamics monitoring and tuning (health rules, alerts) for various applications. Investigating and find root causes through logs on Linux servers. Integrations between AppDynamics, Splunk, PagerDuty, and ServiceNow including Alerts and escalations. Identifying areas of automation for building self-remediation needs. Creating or updating performance analysis reports & dashboards, knowledge base. Proposing and implementing solutions to improve application availability and reliability. API & Microservices technologies and containers. Leading investigation calls and being available on call rotation to support infrastructure and application. Work in tandem with multiple teams

You bring:



A University degree in Computer Science Engineering or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in Core Java Object Oriented programming and understand basic Enterprise Integration Patterns. A combined minimum of 5+ years in software development (Java) and maintenance experience; ideally with experience in payment system or banking domain and can test and devise solutions. You have a strong knowledge of ISO Payment standards with API and network troubleshooting skills. A minimum of 3 years experience in Application Support and maintenance of Java/JEE applications, focusing on improving application reliability by enhancing application monitoring, designing, and instrumenting dashboards and tuning alerts, preferably with AppDynamics, Splunk and ELK. Good understanding of Linux, WebSphere, Firewalls, Load balancers, REST API, Docker, Kubernetes, and Cloud Architecture. RDBMS expertise - Oracle. The ability to write queries and pull reports on Database and Splunk. An understanding of Networking concepts and Network hardware. Experience in Infrastructure tuning not limited to Linux, Windows but also network appliances. Experience in understanding Firewalls and Loadbalancers including their rules, operations, troubleshooting. Ideally be able to troubleshoot network issues. A strong SRE (Site Reliability Engineering) background and a focus on improving the reliability and stability of the infrastructure and service. Debugging expertise in the Java tool stack and good knowledge of REST APIs. Proven experience in supporting high-throughput, low-latency systems and maintaining high-performance, service-oriented architectures. Experience in scripting tools such as Power Shell, BASH, Python, and Ansible. A solid understanding of different open-source packages, preferably Spring, Apache and data transformation (jaxb2, JSON, XML). Experience in using CI/CD platform for deployment. An excellent understanding of ITIL service management processes. Experience participating in the overall delivery of software components as part of an agile development process. A mindset to modify the current approach in the face of new demands and are open to new ideas and change initiatives. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with an ability to communicate effectively and professionally across teams. A demonstrated ability to achieve successful outcomes when handling difficult situations & customers. A demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, follow through on projects to completion and can stay organized and deal with information from different sources simultaneously. A willingness to learn new technologies and maintain industry knowledge while being self-driven, positive, thrive under pressure, and are a strong team player. Eligibility to work for Interac Corp. in Canada in a full-time capacity.
