We're seeking a full-time Applied Data Scientist to join our team.

Polysights builds tools that help people understand and trade prediction markets. We combine research, data, and proprietary metrics to surface what's actually actionable.

Why this role exists

Prediction markets are full of noisy data, missing context, and misleading signals. We want someone who can take messy market + on-chain datasets, build and validate proprietary metrics, and turn real patterns into insights that improve the product.

What you'll do

Develop, test, and refine proprietary metrics that identify meaningful market behavior (flow, concentration, urgency, abnormal activity, regime changes). Use prediction market APIs and internal datasets to derive insights, validate hypotheses, and support new features. Build analysis workflows that are repeatable, not one-off (so insights can become alerts, tags, or templates). Design lightweight models or scoring systems when useful, and be clear about what they do and don't predict. Partner with engineering to productionize what works (pipelines, monitoring, evaluation, documentation).

Who you are

Strong analytical thinking and clear communication. You can explain what you found, how you found it, and why it matters. Comfortable working with real-world data and dealing with messiness, bias, and edge cases. Strong judgment and intellectual honesty. You pressure-test ideas with evidence and can explain your reasoning clearly. Comfortable in a fast-moving startup environment. You can manage multiple threads, prioritize well, and keep quality high under short timelines. Genuinely interested in prediction markets and motivated to follow them closely.

Nice to have

Strong SQL and Python experience (pandas, notebooks, simple pipelines). Experience with time series, anomaly detection, ranking/scoring systems, or market microstructure. Familiarity with blockchain/web3 and on-chain data. Experience shipping data products (dashboards, metrics frameworks, alerting).

Location and format

Hybrid preferred. A few days per week in our downtown Halifax office (flexible schedule). Remote is considered for exceptional talent, especially with strong prior research or shipped analytics work.

Compensation

Paid role. Details depend on scope, hours, and experience.
