MAJOR DUTIES


Performs a wide variety of technological functions in various aspects of mechanical and electrical engineering, primarily in support of design and development of factory automation systems. Includes creating innovative 3D concepts and simulations working from general automation ideas and concepts.

  • Have a strong ability to conceptualize and create solutions for complex design requirements.
  • Demonstrate a strong ability to quickly and effectively analyze concepts and designs for viability, reliability and risk.
  • Capable of presenting detailed concepts in front of customers (as required)
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, Solid Works and Visual Components
  • Capable of working as part of a team.
  • Capable of giving and taking direction.
  • Have a strong written and oral communication abilities.
  • Able to independently complete all specific responsibilities with minimal supervision.


SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Responsible for the conceptual development of automation solutions for new proposals.
  • Ability to quickly demonstrate concepts via hand sketches, simple block diagrams
  • Produces layout drawings or station concepts in either 2D or 3D design systems to the level of detail to describe concept in a quotation or concept review
  • Perform engineering calculations, cycle time, force, speed, etc in order to validate a systems concept.
  • Interact with third party vendors and suppliers in the quoting process to help develop final solutions.
  • Travels to the customer\xe2\x80\x99s site to assist in system development, working with engineering design specifications, objectives and standards.
  • Provides sales presentations to customer personnel, when required.
  • Write technical descriptions of concepts for submission with the final proposal or presentation
  • Ensure that all business activities are performed with the highest ethical standards and in compliance with the ATS Code of Business Conduct.
  • Adhere to all health and safety rules and procedures.


QUALIFICATIONS


Education: A post secondary diploma or degree in mechanical design, mechanical engineering or equivalent.
Experience:
Five years\xe2\x80\x99 experience in mechanical engineering support, preferably in an automation environment. Must have a working knowledge of robotics, machine controls and manufacturing processes and be able to keep abreast of leading-edge technology. In addition, must be familiar with the use of MS Office, SolidWorks, AutoCAD or similar drawing package. An ability to present ideas, concepts and pricing information in a clear, concise manner suitable for technical audiences is essential.
