Nova Scotia Provincial Housing Agency (NSPHA) is the provincial government agency responsible for the administration and delivery of affordable housing solutions for low-income Nova Scotians.

We accomplish this by working closely with other levels of government as well as private and community partners. Across its districts, NSPHA provides more than 11,200 safe, affordable homes as part of its Housing Services to seniors and families. District offices manage the day-to-day operations of Nova Scotia's housing stock. Their responsibilities include administering tenant applications and placements, collecting rent, resolving tenant issues, and maintaining and repairing properties.
About Our Opportunity
Under the direction of the Applications Supervisor, the Applications Clerk provides support to the supervisor and staff of the department as well as services to callers and visitors to the Metropolitan District.
Primary Accountabilities
Respond to or redirect all general incoming calls/emails to the Applications Department.
Provide applicants with wait list information; maintain cancelled application files.
Maintain electronic and paper records/files related to applications and transfers.
Keep accurate records of phone calls, mail, confirmations, etc., for files as received.
Maintain a registry of Priority Access files.
Produce client/tenant-related letters.
Process online applications for eligibility.
Provide backup for Switchboard/Receptionist duties as required.
Complete service tickets
Other assigned duties.
Qualifications and Experience
Business Administration or Secretarial diploma program, plus two years' related experience.
Computer skills and competency in desktop software including Microsoft Office with strong keyboarding skills.
Excellent knowledge of office procedures and practices are required to maintain accurate and secure files, track, and follow-up information/report requests.
Interpersonal skills to deal with co-workers, tenants, contractors and vendors, other departments, and the public in a positive, tactful, courteous, and cooperative manner.
Ability to exercise tact, discretion, sound judgment and initiative when investigating, questioning, and dealing with inquiries, requests and submissions that are sensitive and confidential in nature.
Assets
Working knowledge of Yardi Property Management software.
Multilingual; fluent in English and Arabic.
