POSITION SUMMARY
Reporting to the Manager, Business Applications and Integrations, the Applications Analyst performs a variety of duties related to the implementation, development, and day-to-day support of "department specific" packaged software and custom computer applications. This includes responsibility for the efficient design, scripting, testing, and maintenance of moderately complex "department specific" applications and liaison with end users to analyze requirements, identify and investigate potential solutions, assess feasibility of solutions considering available technology, budget, and end user requirements, and recommend solutions. The Application Analyst will learn and support a variety of applications across multiple computer platforms, make recommendations for future enhancements, and investigate/correct problems to optimize application use and improve business processes. The Application Analyst will work with users to understand data access/report requests to develop queries and reports and will serve as a liaison between user departments & Information Technology professionals to support and implement changes.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION
St. Joseph's Healthcare Hamilton (SJHH) and Joseph Brant Hospital (JBH) are embarking on an exciting digital transformation project to implement Epic's health information system (HIS) at JBH.
In this partnership, JBH will adopt SJHH's version of Epic's health information system (HIS), which is branded Dovetale. Both organizations will support the shared instance of Dovetale following the project's implementation. The project goals are to enable safer patient care, empower healthcare providers and staff, make care more efficient, and improve the overall patient experience at JBH.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
The successful candidate will be part of an Integrated Team that will work closely with subject matter experts and leadership at JBH, SJHH, and Epic to carry out the implementation and would be active participants in joint and local committees. While remote work is supported, you will be required to travel to SJHH and JBH locations regularly to complete project activities. For successful candidates hired without Epic certification, you must hold valid travel documentation as you will be expected to travel to the United States to complete your certification requirements in September to October and/or whenever required.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Engineering or Business, or relevant clinical field.
Three to five years recent related experience supporting packaged software and custom developed applications (preferably in a healthcare environment).
Three to five years of recent related experience in application analysis, data conversion, or data migration projects (preferably in a healthcare environment).
Three to five years of recent related experience working on enterprise software implementations or system integrations (preferably in a healthcare environment).
Demonstrated skill with report writing tools (i.e., Crystal Reports, Microsoft SQL Reporting Services).
Demonstrated experience working with a relational database system (i.e., Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL).
Experience with data conversion methodologies, including data mapping, cleansing, validation, and transformation.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets and identify inconsistencies or anomalies.
Experience in documenting data conversion processes and creating data mapping specifications.
Demonstrated ability to work in multi-functional teams.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and complete and deliver work assignments on time.
Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills.
Demonstrated skills in business process reengineering and process flow/mapping.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead and execute data conversion activities for new system implementations, upgrades, or migrations.
Collaborate with business analysts, developers, and stakeholders to gather data requirements and understand legacy and target system structures.
Design and document data mapping, transformation, and validation rules to ensure accurate and complete data migration.
Develop and run scripts or use ETL tools to extract, transform, and load (ETL) data from source systems to target applications.
Perform data quality checks and reconciliation to ensure data integrity throughout the conversion process.
Troubleshoot and resolve data-related issues, including mismatches, formatting errors, and missing values.
Create and maintain detailed documentation of data conversion processes, including mapping specifications, test plans, and validation results.
Participate in project planning, status meetings, and provide regular updates on data conversion progress and risks.
Ensure compliance with data governance, privacy, and security standards throughout the data conversion lifecycle.
Provide post-conversion support and assist in resolving any data-related issues after go-live.
Work closely with project managers and team members to align data conversion efforts with project timelines and deliverables.
Primary contact and coordination point for issue resolution in relation to the supported "department specific" applications; responsible for engaging with the application vendors for support, upgrades, and escalation issues.
Participate as a co-chair of selected Application Support teams for select applications, consisting of end users, members from the Clinical Informatics and Information Services teams and vendors.
Support various Information Technology and Hospital project initiatives; provides data and configuration changes, system testing, prepares documentation of change specifications and participates in go-live support.
Creates and maintains documentation on "department specific" applications and troubleshoots application issues, including changes in scripting, the creation of functional design documents and other relevant documents for end users.
Reviews and discusses business problems with end users, developing flow charts and functional specifications to translate business requirements into technical requirements.
Performs "end user" data review and analysis to develop new and improve existing medium-complexity reports.
Provides technical guidance for evaluation of software applications primarily departmental.
Analyzes and reviews enhancements for compatibility, adherence to operating guidelines and performs integration testing.
Prepares and presents status reports and ad hoc reports, creates test plans, analyses test cases, identifies issues and escalates them to appropriate teams and assists management in the interpretation of available information.
HOURS OF WORK
Monday-Friday, days. May include evenings, weekends and on-call as required.
RATE OF PAY:
$43.4365 (min) - $50.3509 (max)
